Josh Brolin, we have Marvel movie and we need a villain, you available?

So, in an oddish coincidence there are 2 Marvel superhero movies coming out and Josh Brolin is cast as the bad guy in both. I’m not sure how I feel about this.

Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War (April 27)

Cable in Deadpool 2 (May 18)

It’s not the same character, and the movies aren’t currently* in the same MCU, but geez. Maybe we’ve reached saturation with all these Marvel movies. We’re running out of actors!

Your thoughts?

*Now that Disney has bought Fox Entertainment, they’re in the same studio. So, it could happen someday.

Captain America was already Johnny Storm. Folks seem to have handled it okay.

So was Killmonger.

Brolin was also Jonah Hex.

So, we are running out of actors.

Considering there are only about 6 British actors and two of them are playing Americans in the MCU, probably.

Ugh, don’t get me started on the casting community’s fetish for non-American’s playing Americans.

Is it possible he could fight Green Lantern at some point?

Yeah, the UK’s actor-shuffling is about an order of magnitude worse than Marvel’s problems.

And a young agent K in MIB 3, and Dwight in the second Sin City. Heck, he probably has the record for appearing as a main character in different movie/comic universes.

Is Cable a bad guy? I know he is the antagonist but won’t they hug it out by the end?

Pump the hate brake Thanos!

Infinity War will be the sixteenth comic book based movie Chris Evans has appeared in.

I meant number of different comic book universes, not total number of movies. Brolin has been/will be in MCU, X-Men, Jonah Hex, MIB, and Sin City for 5. Chris Evans has more total movies, but it’s all MCU & Fox’s Fantastic Four.

You forgot Snowpiercer, The Losers, and Scott Pilgrim Vs the World.

IIRC, Push was also its own comic-book thing about superpowered people doing stuff before they put Chris Evans up on the big screen in the lead role.

Evans was also in TMNT. So sixteen movies based on seven different comic books.

Cap isn’t making it past Avengers 4 and rumours have it that Affleck wants out of the Batman role…

Slightly off-topic but I am really impressed by this guy’s career. I think I saw him in one movie in the mid-80s and then did not see him in anything else for almost 20 years and now he is in everything.

Goonies!
