Happy Fun Ball:
Where did this come from? I thought all he’s been caught at is molesting his sisters and adultery. (I don’t mean to say that that’s nothing, just I don’t recall seeing an abortion angle in the story just yet.)

I’m not a republican.
I’m not obsessed about the personal lives of politicians.
All politicians are scum.
Vote Kodos!
I love you.
Not unexpectedly, Anna blames herself.
I think he is referring to 2 people (i.e. Josh Dugger and “that vehemently pro-life politician that got caught forcing his mistress to get a abortion”). I don’t know who the latter is, though.
As others have noted, the most disgusting thing about all of this is the mentality that his wife has some responsibility for this, since she is duty bound to be sexually available to him. My guess is that - like the devout person she was raised to be - sex with her was never going to be like it would be with a prostitute (which is really what this Ashley Madison stuff is for, right?) or in porn. No way that woman would ever approach the type of contortions, acts, or expressions found in raunchy ilicit sex. It was probably missionary, lights-off, half dressed sex in their marriage. So she never was going to be able to do the things that he wanted, and never could have been “obedient” enough to keep him faithful.
But she’ll feel the guilt and shame, all right.
Asshole.
The linked article only speculates that she will, no actual statement yet. Not that I doubt it for one second. I fully expect they’ll find some way to lay most of or all the blame on her.
Have to give them time to frame the appropriate response to properly position themselves should their own activities be uncovered in the next data dump. These are truly trying times for our plain-spoken, family-oriented, men (and one woman)-of-the-people, to be sure.
There is one comment I love in the linked article.
This was a list of 3 separate Republican guilty of hypocrisy. I was thinking of Scott DesJarlais, but I was not able to use Google at that exact moment. So it should read Josh Duggar, Scott DesJarlais, and Ted Haggard. 3 examples though there are many more.
OK, my apologies, I must have mistaken you for another poster. For the record, I heartily approve of points 3 and 4.
Go ahead. Throw your vote away.
I really feel sorry for Anna. She was exposed to the entire world as someone who deliberately married a pedophile. She’s now exposed as someone who who married a pedophile who cheats on her. In her world and her mind she’s going to take the fall for all of this. I have no doubt the Duggars in private will do as much as possible to blame her for not satisfying her man. So four kids, no education and a marriage that isn’t even as good as that of many of the liberals she’s been taught to hate. Sort of like Princess Diana only with a layer of fundie on top.
Forget free Jinger. Free Anna. Some ghost writer needs to gently walk up to her and convince her they should write a tell all book together.
Or just appearing on the stage together. “Are we really gonna do this? Nah.” Then they both leave.
Not to shit on a perfectly cromulent generalization of a group of people I find personally disgusting, but I did grow up in the quiverful movement, and most of the girls and women I knew believed that they were happy and fulfilled with their lives. There were some mental gymnastics involved with holding that opinion, but we didn’t know that at the time. It usually takes some real specific trauma or a specific type of stubborn personality to crack through all the conditioning to realize the depth of the bullshit you’re wading around in. And it really takes some doing for the men, most of whom are fat-cat contented with being lord and master of their own personal fiefdom.
/hijack, back to your regularly-scheduled pitting
Okay, let’s say I’m a bit of a D-List celebrity and I want to join Ashley Madison anonymously. No paying with a credit card with my name on it. Amex gift cards only have fifteen-digit numbers, unlike the sixteen on a proper credit card. They also can’t be used for automatic withdrawal, just month to month. Even Russell Simmons’ RushCard is hiding behind the Patriot Act. Can I open a bank account under a fake name in Arkansas that doesn’t require I show an ID? Or am I stuck using Bitcoins?
I shouldn’t, but I do too. I am not kidding when I say I think she’s special, and having no education and being raised in a fundie cult did not help.
If she was in my position, or probably yours, I wouldn’t. I was raised to think for myself and get an edumacation, and support myself (or 1/2 of my household since I’ve been married). I have self respect and don’t let who my husband or kids are define me. Finally, I have never been classified as below average intelligence.
Despite such self-professed intelligence, I have watched the show. More than I should have, but like a train wreck, I couldn’t help staring.
On the show, Anna could ONLY talk about babies.
When someone started courting, she said “ooh, babies!” When friends visited, more “ooh, babies!”
When someone got married, she sent them a baby-related wedding present.
She’s gonna hang on to him because
This sounds like a sizable percentage of the world’s population.
I have a client that pays my fees and my expenses separately. My expenses are a set amount, so they send me a pre-paid Visa card that is accepted anywhere online and in stores. AFAIK there is no name associated with these, and you only need to register your zip code if you are buying goods that require shipping.
It really irks the shit out of me when I step up for a nice cold shot of iced *schadenfreude * and somebody has to remind me of the human dimension to all this, the suffering of innocent people. Couldn’t I just have five minutes to enjoy the delivery of a karmic dopeslap to the richly deserving?
This is why we can’t have nasty things!
In his OKCupid profile he claims his income to be $100,000 to $150,000. I got bored trying to find what the Family Research Council paid him, but do his potential dates not know that, while $150k is good for a guy with all of the education and skills to be a WalMart stockboy, for an Executive Director of a famous DC lobbying firm it ain’t shit? Does he have the arithmetic skills too cipher it out, or are there too many zeros?
He could always be lying about his salary, or taking a low wage for Jesus.
