Journelists in the warzone

Are there any Foreign Journelists left in Bhagdad or did everyone clear out? Does anyone have any names of those who stayed behind to report?

Lots have pulled out over the last few days. Foreign journalists are required to work from the Ministry of Information building in Baghdad - a building with 2 anti-aircraft guns on its roof, so it is a VERY dangerous position. According to the UK’s Channel 4 there are around 100 remaining - there’s no list anywhere but these are the ones I’ve managed to identify.

The Washington Post has one man there - Anthony Shadid. NBC and ABC have pulled out - they are relying on MSNBC’s Peter Arnett (the former CNN correspondent) and a freelancer, Peter Engel, respectively. Nic Robertson, Rym Brahimi and Ingrid Formanek of CNN are still there, I believe, as part of a four man team. CBS has Lara Logan in Baghdad. Fox were chucked out in February, and are relying on pictures from SKY, their UK sister Channel.

The BBC has the most journalists still in Baghdad, 7 apparantly, including Paul Wood and Rageh Omaar. The other UK terrestial channels also have journalists remaining in Baghdad - Channel 4 (Lindsey Hillsum) ITV (John Irvine) and Channel Five.

German channel ZTF (?) still has someone there. Reuters apparantly has a Samia Nakhoul in Baghdad (or at least Samia Nakhoul is filing reports to them). Paul McGeough of the Sydney Morning Herald is also still reporting in from Baghdad. The (London) Times pulled their correspondent out yesterday. The (London) Independent and the Press Association have also apparantly pulled their correspondents out.

Thanks… I’m not sure what keeps these people there but I hope they come out ok.
