So long as I can remember, Joy Behar’s profession has been as a comedian, and now a television host. So, first guess, her comment was meant to be funny and entertaining. No?
Why do people try to dismiss it as joking? She is promoting a perfectly logical and rational strategy. If you want to do something you consider to be necessary-but-unpopular, don’t trumpet in advance that you’ll do it. Wait until you get elected first, otherwise you are jeopardizing your very election itself. The saying: “Don’t mock the alligator until you are across the stream.”
Is Joy Behar running for office? Has she ever run for office?
Rationalism?
I finally got to watch it. She’s cracking up as she says it. Why the hell would anyone try to act like she was serious?
Consider something else: a serious promoter of the strategy of lying about your strategy would not admit to using this strategy. The fact that she’s saying it out loud means she’s not seriously promoting it.
This is just another absurd “sky is falling!” moment from conservatives, desperately trying to show that liberals lie too. Of course liberals lie sometimes, but this ain’t one of them.
