Oh, but he goes into more detail at his personal website called HighestHill.com
He says on the home page:
But then under “current news” on the same page:
Yeah. Good thing you’re refraining from stating a direct position on a specific issue. This Jesus-Fucker goes on to say things like:
“Truth is the only solid foundation upon which to build a life, or a nation. God’s Word is the Foundational Truth upon which our constitutional form of government was built
“The Word of God was originally the cornerstone of this Nation’s public education system. The Bible is not an unconstitutional book. Instead, God’s Word is the only solid basis upon which to teach morality. When we removed the Bible from the public education of our children, we did not remove religion, we merely replaced the religious belief in the living God with a religious belief in the god of materialism and chance. The majority of today’s government leaders were educated in a public school system which did not contain the Truth of God’s Word.”
“They (Our Founding Fathers) were certain that this Nation would only prosper if we continue to hold on to the Biblical principles upon which they built our Constitutional form of government.”
“There is a growing misinterpretation of the “wall of separation” between Church and State which is destroying the foundation of this Godly Nation. The United States Constitution does not contain the words “wall of separation.” The framers of the Constitution did not desire a wall to be built which would keep the Word of God from influencing the government and the people, and they would be in complete opposition to the direction our courts have taken us toward taking God out of our public institutions. The Church must return to its vital role of supporting and influencing the State.”
Speaking of which, if you ever want to visit us down here in the Bible Belt, I’d recommend putting a good strong vise around your head, to keep it from exploding.
Holy Moses on a fucking Speed Stick, when will people stop making this disingenuous claim? It’s demonstrably false. These assholes sure have funny ideas about truth.
Heh. My wife’s from Charlotte, and I can tell you there are some great people there. Great people all over the South.
It’s just that I was expecting something extraordinary in your link, like maybe he was calling for the public stoning of all infidels, or a strict religious test on who could hold public office. Hell, in Washington State when I lived there the Republican candidate for Governor called for a strict religious test on who could hold office*.
This nutjob? He’s nothing, I tell you! Nothing!
Daniel
*or something like that–mid nineties, middle of college, lots of pot, I don’t remember all the details.
He’s not running against a good incumbent… he’s running against a great one. He’d have a better chance running against Martin Olav Sabo, for crying out loud.
(Yeah, that’s a Twin Cities insider reference. My apologies to the out-of-towners.)
I think the guy sounds like a nutjob as well, but this part I quoted isn’t illegal, or even mentioned in the Constitution. The church can influence the government all it wants. It just can’t be the other way around.
Alan Page? He’s running against Alan Page? Why not just stuff a hand grenade up your Nixon and pull the pin? And who in hell gives campaign money to the guy who wants to run against Alan Page?
I dunno, but I think they have friends in Illinois. The fine folks who decided that Alan Keyes would be a good candidate to import to run against Barak Obama, thereby guaranteeing that not only would Obama win, he’d win easily enough and acquire enough national visibility to be able to campaign on behalf of other Democratic candidates.
So, the guy’s an idiot. Doesn’t he have the same right to run for office as non-idiots? What’s the big deal? He’s a fringe candidate. Are we going to devote a thread to calling Alan Keyes an Uncle Tom now?
Maybe he’s trying to get in the Guinness Book for most ridiculously one side election defeat ever. I think there are some unopposed candidates who are going to win by smaller margins than Page will.
Of course, Alan Keyes is in the running for this record as well.
Ahhh, another nutjob. Don’t my fellow Minnesotans recall Saron Anderson, the 1994 Attorney General nominee? She claimed that the Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Alberto Miera had a computer chip implanted into her head without her consent.
I have read someplace in the last few days that once this election is over there will be a civil war within the Republican Party no matter whether President Bush is reelected or not. One side will be the people like Ambassador Keys and the guy running against Justice Page and, in my state, Charles Hurley, who shows up in this Washington Times article about the dissolution of civil unions, and other evangelical crusaders for an American theocracy. On the other side will be the rest of the Republicans – the fiscal conservatives, the anti-tax contingent, the free market purists, the isolationists, the America Firsters, the big money robber barons and the country club types. The fight will be for control of the party and the losers will be purged.
I’m not sure it will be all that dramatic but somebody is going to have to come up with a more substantial basis for party cohesion that personal loyalty to the person of George W. Bush. I don’t see it happening if Bush wins simply because the party will owe the evangelical crusaders for that election victory and will of necessity throw them a few bones to keep them happy and in line for another four years. If Bush loses, however, I expect all hell to break lose because if the E.C.s cannot guarantee a party win the party doesn’t need them and doesn’t need to play their game or put up with their demands.
