Judgement at Nurenburg

Lots of well known people in this movie, but concerning the to be known, such as William Shatner.

Is the lady who gives the strudel to Spencer Tracey “Mrs. Olsen” of Folger’s coffee?

Yes, that was Virginia Christine. Weren’t Marlene and Judy terrific in that film?

[Oh, P.S., it’s Nuremburg]

Thanks

IIRC that film was the first public display of the atrocities from WWII. Before that there were rumors and maybe private showing of the films. But considering the release date of 1961, it’s hard in retrospect to think that much time elapsed from the liberation of the camps (1945) and general public awareness of the situation.

Compare “The Killing Fields” for example.

Yes, Marlene Dietrich and Judy Garland were terrific! It made me wish Judy got more dramatic roles. Also brilliant were Maximilian Schell as the defense attorney and Montgomery Clift as the mildly retarded witness. It was actually the only time I ever liked Montgomery Clift in a role; for some reason, he usually gives me the heebie-jeebies.

I was going to say “Not to mention Monty Cliff,” but someone else has already done it! What brilliant, heart-achingly painful performance.

And all this time I thought the trials were held were the singing contest was.
