Regarded as the “muse of the Existentialists,” she had a unique look and charisma all her own, along with an entrancing voice, a combination guaranteeing her a place in the Pantheon of Cool. Her passing two days ago seems to have gone somewhat under-reported in the U.S. (e.g., no mention of it on CNN’s website).
