I just watched the prequel retro-pilot. Pretty good.
New pilot seen. I liked it very much!
I laughed like a maniac at the end, when the IMP crew enter the mortal world at top speed with their van and they run over and kill VIvzie as she is about to give the script to Brandon (!!!).
Very nicely done, in my opinion. The new pilot is now coherent with how the show has moved.
I enjoyed it ![]()
Here’s our favorite VERY HORNY OWL BOI calling Blitzo in “Mission: Zero”. The best part is Loona’s reaction.
The first two episodes of Hazbin Hotel season 2 are out. Looks to be setting up for an epic season arc. (I still like Helluva Boss more.)
I would say that we wait before commenting on episodes to avoid spoilers on people who haven’t seen them. What do you think that we wait until the next set of episodes is out in Amazon Prime before commenting on the previous ones?
I have watched the first 6 episodes of HH 2nd season and I can only say…
HOLY SHIT!!!
My favorite songs so far from the 2nd season are “Gravity” and “VOX Dei”. The first is amazing and the second is… wow.
Well, the whole second season of HH is on streaming.
After watching the whole thing, I have to say that I liked it. A few comments:
(1) I was at times rather upset at Charlie, who at times seemed to be running like a headless chicken and kept falling for Vox’s traps again and again. But I could understand that she was definitely out of her element, and this cluelessness of hers fits with her personality (not to mention that she likely is proud and would be loath to ask or accept advice).
(2) Holy fuck, Alastor. What a way of getting rid of two deals in less than two minutes… he was playing the long game and played Vox like a fiddle, while being tied to a chair. Alastor has become waaaaay more dangerous. I thing he is set to become one of the really big villains in the future.
(3) I cannot be the only one who thought that Emily would for sure allow herself to be blown up while teleporting the malfunctioning superweapon elsewhere or something, right…? Thematically I think that it would have been rather apt (a high-ranking angel sacrificing herself for the sinners’ sake would definitely show a will to atone for genocide - although I guess that Sera probably would not have reacted well…). But I don’t mind the actual ending (and to the complaint of the day being saved by “the power of friendship” I would say that a big factor in the cooperation of the overlords was “the power of not wanting to be vaporized by a nuke”).
(4) I have the feeling that Lute is being let to “cook slowly” into her insanity, so as to make her the main villain in a future season. “Gravity” was an incredible banger of a song, and although I guess quite a few people were upset that Lute didn’t go wild/rogue in this season, I think that “Gravity” did what the Vees’ songs did in season 1: mark them as the main villains for a future season.
(5) POOR ANGEL DUST….!!!
There are many more things to comment, but well… these are some of my takes
Would love to discuss the series.
Ah! Also, the songs in general were very good, in my opinion.
You have to remember - Its OK to have sympathy for the characters, but they did REALLY BAD THINGS on earth to get sent to hell. Pentious’ non-action was a simple one to get forgiveness for. Whatever Angel did on earth, I assume, was much worse than that.
Well, of course he did awful things! He was in the Mafia, after all… and he killed his own father. Whether that was more or less justified, it is still a terrible thing!
Nonetheless, I cannot help but feel sympathy and pity regarding the situation he finds himself in, especially the discovery that he never truly had free will and was made to do rather nasty stuff (and, having been in the Mafia, the idea of being a “rat” must have been very painful for him).
If you haven’t seen it, on Amazon is “Hazbin Hotel on Broadway”. Its a one-shot, showing all the actors that voice the characters.
- Charlie looks like Charlie

- Angel looks like Angel.
- Vox and Alastair? Not even close what I thought their actors would look like.
Its a good watch.
The Broadway show is great.
And not only does Erika Henningsen look like Charlie - talking with her, I found that, personality-wise, she IS Charlie! The same optimistic, cheerful, kind and bubbly demeanor. A really sweet person.
Blake Roman has a way deeper speaking voice than I expected, and Amir Talai is wickedly fun. Joel Pérez (voice of Valentino) is the polar opposite to his character: smart and very kind.
With everybody joining the big uplifting let’s-all-pitch-in power-ballad, I think Medrano might be a bit too optimistic to make a show about Hell. (Of course, the entire show is about optimism in Hell.) I mean, I can buy the idea, and it’s not even the singing, but the combination of characters like Valentino and Alastor and kind of song that felt implausible. Maybe inside of every demon is a rainbow.
That, in my opinion, was not about the “power of friendship”. I think that that was, for most overlords (leaving aside Husk & Niffty as associates of Charlie and perhaps Carmilla and Zestial, but in their case I think it was more a mixture of antagonism towards Vox and grudging admiration for Charlie), a case of ”I don’t want to be vaporized by a fucking nuke”..
As to Alastor and Rosie, to me it seemed clear that Alastor was in it for himself and blackmailed Rosie into giving him what he wanted. It seems clear that Rosie has plans for Charlie and does not want her to be killed. After Alastor gets his staff repaired, they go and help (Alastor also very likely acts more from an “I don’t want to be vaporized” standpoint).
Finally, Val and Velvet: They show up at the absolute very end, perhaps they were not strictly needed, and Velvet is the one who tells Val “let’s go there”. She is very PR savvy and this last-second appearance was later leveraged by them to paint themselves as the “saviors” of everybody. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if Velvet planned that spin in the time it took for her to decide and show up at the last moment.
Also, the overlords say immediately afterwards “let’s not talk about this”. They’ve done something (cooperating) they are not particularly proud of.
Just my 2 eurocent!
Also, Katie Killjoy says “Tom, did you get all that gay shit?”
Again, it’s not what happens in the scene, that makes sense, it’s the combination of characters and type of song. If not everybody joined in with the big positive uplifting song (while still helping blow up the Lilith gun) or the song was different, I’d be fine with it.
Remember the driving force of the show!!
I find no problem with that scene at the end, myself. Think about it this way: we see how Charlie may choose to interpret the situation (“Everybody is helping! This is so moving! They believe in the power of love, friendship and rainbows!” ) - it would not be out of character for Charlie to think that.
It may well be as well that (per the “musical logic” thing) everybody has to sing the “gay shit” that Katie Killjoy mentioned, even though they don’t really believe in it (look at Alastor’s and other overlords faces — they look anything but happy about it).
In any way - it did not break my suspension of disbelief
But, of course, different people will have different opinions!
Hmm, interesting point.
If Medrano introduces a character who hates musicals, he’ll really be in hell.
Well I was half expecting the end to be the realization that being in Hell with friends was better than Heaven with its boring losers and sociopaths like Lute. Emily exempted of course! With Pentious finding a way to go back. The Mark Twain bit. The anticlimax was fun.
I didn’t like it as much as the first season. The songs were a bit meh, Charlie being mean to Vaggi(e) seemed a bit out of character and it seemed like the core group of protagonists got much less to do this time.
This too.
