Just give me my PAYCHECK !

I as many do, live paycheck to paycheck. And I from time to time have bills to pay the day I get paid.

ok…I go into work to pick up my pay check the same time I do every two weeks. When I get there the forman tells me that I cannot pick up my check untill 4:00. I say," Are the checks here?". yes. “Has everyone else that is working right now picked up their check?” Yes. “Then why can’t I have mine?” I dont know. And i don’t have time for this.
ok…I go to the main office to ask one of the owners why my check was being held… The owner has no idea and calls the manager.
The manager says that I haven’t paid a $5.00 meal ticket from last week.
I say “ok…that was supposed to be deducted from my check because the forman wrote out a ticket.”
The manager yells at me for questioning her authorit-I.
The owner gets back on the line and says…“Cash his check and deduct the ticket…geesh”
So I drive ten miles back to the store where the manager screams at me for involving the owner (in a mistake she made).
I’m thinking … ok I’m being yelled at for something she did, plus have gone out of my way today just to get my paycheck (which I needed two hours ago to make it to the bank to pay my bills).
Being the nice person I am I scream, “What is the problem? Cash the check and deduct the meal ticket! I have appointments too meet!”
She calls the police ! :smack:
She tells the cops that I am a “former” employee that is causing a “ruckus” in “her” store.
Then her boy toy (a runt) Tells me to step outside with him.
I’m about twice his size. I point my finger in his face (without even looking at him):cool: and say “If you lay a finger on me…”
He runs behind my manager to taunt me a second time. :rolleyes:

side note: I opened this store with the owner five years ago before she had a job there. I’m getting paid more than she is because I know the ins and outs of the business.
To make a long story short…I had to take the money and run. And now I have a meeting scheduled with the owner to discuss this total BS.

I’m pretty sure one of us will get fired

You might want to mention in your meeting with the owner that your manager might have been breaking the law . . . not the kind of person the owner would want as a manager . .

And Kat: Good question concidering that I basically ran the joint myself. I was hired by the owner not her. He assigned me to that store because apparently they needed someone who knows what they are doing.

I think she didn’t like me from the beginning concidering I am making as much as she is. But I do twice the work as anyone that works there.
I’m going to go into the main office tomorrow to discuss this with the owner if I get the chance. I would like to see her fired so I can manage the store. Or maby I’ll get lucky and work there in the main office. I mean who calls the police for someone ranting about picking up their pay?

So, if you do most of the work, and pretty much run the place, how come you’re not the manager. It seems like a pretty reasonable arrangement to me.

Your manager ‘fired’ you right after she was called on a mistake with the owner? Very stupid. I would go to the owner and claim the manager had it out for you and set you up. Her doing this the same day…

Chances are you are fired but if she has a history, this could be when the owner gives up and fires her.

I despise these lowly dictators. The have authority but their position is peon. They feel low and powerless so they take it out on people however they can no matter how stupid it makes them look.

Demand that she be fired. She broke the law and called the cops on you, described you as a former employee to a cop…

Oops sorry it took so long to get back with ya. I have an appointment set next week.
Right now I’m over it pretty much. My fiance keeps telling me that it is important that I go in and explain what happened. I however am now thinking that after these many years THIS shit shouldn’t even be happening. What I mean is if the owner hasn’t done anything about it by now…Take this job and shove it.
I got my paycheck, thats all I wanted. I have yet to go back to work. But I am also in the process of doing bigger and better things anywhoo. I wasn’t going to work there much longer anyway.
Maby I’m just trying to rationalize that what happened isn’t worth my time and energy, but it isn’t.
When I get a chance to sit down with the owner I’ll let you know what happened.

It’s better to let things cool down first and take time to get a professional looking case together anyway.
Isn’t that the best way to operate?

I may lurk more than post, but I’m still curious about any situation that a hardworking employee gets screwed by a slacker/screw-up boss…

please sound off about what happened… although IANAL, I’m pretty sure your immediate boss broke a law or two… and if you opened the store for the owner, hopefully the owner trusts you enough to know this PHB is full of crap…

I know you’re right bobo. See all of this started when I had an agreement with the manager to give me at least 30 hours a week. This worked fine for awhile till she decided to hire 5 more people. This docked all employees hours. This is a store that two peole can run during the day and five people can run at night. After hireing 5 more people we had over 15 working the store.
I usually opened and closed the store. 14 hours a day.
When I asked her why she did this her reply was,“Well I thought that if I hired more people then I could weed out the bad ones.”

Well fuck you bitch…That just cost the store one of the best employees. Me. I’ve heard that some other people have quit since all of this happened.
