Wow. I can’t even begin to guess what the scammers are even trying to accomplish with this email. But it sure is a hilarious combination of subject and body.
EVERY SINGLE spam email I get is exactly like that. At first I found it funny, but now I am just confused. I wonder how I ended up on the list…for both of my Yahoo accounts.
I am disappointed that I have never gotten any Nigerian scam things, just this insanity.
I really would like to know what the motivation is. They are always different, and never have attachments. I get 2-5 a day.
These kinds of spam are attempts to get around Bayesian spam filtering. According to wiki, they don’t work well. I’m grateful for that! They are rarely amusing, even less amusing given the amount of time everyone spends deleting spam.
I removed the site hyperlink given in the spam, but the funniest thing is that it was a Hong Kong domain, so I guess his dog-eating threat was a legitimate one that sounds as if it was written by a person, rather than something resembling a Skynet AI routine attempting to scrutinize and learn English in its endeavor to achieve worldwide domination against mankind via e-mail.
WAIT, wait, wait. There’s something wrong with that one. I mean, you can’t kill yourself and eat your dog – not in that order. You’d have to eat the dog first, and then kill yourself – but if you’re going to do that, why eat the dog? Honestly, this guy needs a more credible threat.
I’ve had to retrain my Bayesian filter after reinstalling Windows a few weeks back, so I’m still getting crap spilling into my regular mailboxes – but prior to that there wasn’t a spam alive that could pass muster enough to fool the filter. Took me months to train it that well though.
