Just Have to Hear That Song!

Do you ever all of a sudden think of a song and you just have to listen to it immediately? It’s almost like you crave it.

When I read the post about not wanting to ever go to a Doobie Bros concert if Michael McDonald was there made me think of the Doobie’s song “Another Park, Another Sunday”. OMG, I couldn’t stop thinking about it - it’s such a great song. I had to bring it up on my playlist and I listened to it 3 times in a row.

It’s a fun thing that I have found I can do with my Amazon Echo. I just call out a song name and there’s a good chance Alexa can play it for me! Sometimes the song isn’t in my library and isn’t free with Prime, so I only get a snippet. That works well enough, sometime

Happens all the time. That’s what Youtube is for, isn’t it? Can’t remember the last one with certainty, but I do know that Kid Charlemagne is a recent example.

What’s more, I once (in my student days) walked into the local record store, heard what they were playing (a song I had never heard before) walked up to the counter and said: Get that off the turntable and put it in a bag for me now, please.

The song in question was Where Were You by The Mekons; and I’m sure we can all agree on just how right I was.

Oh yeah, I probably average one song a day on YouTube for this very reason.

I also have learned to use YouTube to get rid of ear worms. If some stupid song is bouncing around in my head, I’ve found that if I actually listen to it, the ear worm goes away.

That is my remedy as well, listen to the song on repeat until sick of it.

As for the OP, this happens to me when I get in my car and hear the tail end of a song. I must seek out the song and listen to the full thing, ASAP

Yes! I’m very active on Instagram and I know if someone includes a snippet of a song in their post, I’m going to want to listen to the the full version immediately if I like the song.

Presently it’s Change by Churchill. This song has been stuck in a loop for about a week now. Repeated playings and learning it on the guitar haven’t helped. At least the video is kind of cool. Also, Thank Og for Youtube!

Do it all the time. I love the song search thing on Google it has helped me plenty of times to I.D. a song and artist.
