Just seen Iron Man 3 [OPEN SPOILERS]

That works. Many thanks pancakes3!

There was one point where Stark was trying to call off Jarvis from targeting Pepper because the armors were reading her Extermis-enhanced heat signature.

You’ve convinced me. But in a sense, we were already in agreement. The existence of all the suits does make them less special. They’re not special, compared to Tony Stark. They’re the tools, he’s what’s exceptional.

For the record, I loved the final battle sequence and the preponderance of Iron Man suits didn’t harm that for me, but I do think each suit is less interesting now that he has (had) 42 of them. With the exception of Mk42 and the Hulkbuster, they all looked interchangeable.

I kept hoping to see the infamous suit with a nose from the 70s (both the decade and the issue numbers - yeah, I’m a really old comic geek.)

Ooh! Picture?

The Brain-Blasting Ballad of Iron Man’s Nose

Ah, I think I’ve seen that before. Yeah, looks better without the nose.

Pfft. I’m gonna go for a third as soon as I get the chance.

Holy crap - I think I’ve got issue 85 in my Dad’s basement. I specifically remember the armor that “would pop out transformer-like from the chestplate, gloves, and boots, sliding up, down, and across Stark’s body to encase him in the familiar golden garb”.

I didn’t hate it, but it was a bit of a letdown after the Avengers. I like comic book movies and I like Shane Black movies, but the two didn’t really fit together. It felt like Shane Black was trying not to make a comic book movie, so yeah, Tony Stark becomes this Bad Ass, which he’s never been before. It would have been nice to see some of Shield doing that stuff, maybe even bring in Black Widow. (You know Scarlett Johanson would have been down.) That said, some of the scenes were pretty cool. I liked his building and using improvised weapons, and I thought the big twist was funny.

But seriously what the fuck was up with destroying all those Iron Men? That’s a boatload of money and R&D down the toilet. They’d better not be phasing Tony out of the Avengers. That would suck.

That’s the only way Tony gets to keep his girlfriend after the shit he put her through. That sets up some good conflict for Iron Man’s next appearance: What’s more important to Tony? Saving the world from Thanos (or whatever) or keeping a promise to Pepper Potts?

Nah, they’ll renegotiate RDJ’s contract for at least another Avengers or two. Executive producer, Kevin Feige, has been quoted as saying even if the actor were to leave for some reason, Iron Man will stay a part of the Marvel Cinematic U. Of course, they’ve got boatloads of cash to shove at him, and by all indications RDJ is enjoying the role.

As far as the suits go, I’m hoping they’ll have Stark go in the direction of simplified perfection. Say he only has one or two, but they’re grand.

Did any of you know Stark’s bodyguard is the director of the first 2 Iron Man movies?

He is, at this point, only “rumored” for The Avengers 2 – but then, according to IMDB, none of the actors are confirmed for it at this point.

There is, of course, the non-specific tease at the end of the IM3 credits: “Tony Stark will return”.

I think, at this point, they’d have a very hard time putting anyone else in the role; RDJ has absolutely made it his own.

But, based on what we saw in IM3, with the remote-control of the Mark 42 armor, I can see where Stark himself could be more likely to be participating “remotely”.

Definitely.

Just saw Iron Man 3 last night. TFC:cool:!!! Simply awesome!
The Air Force One rescue was the bomb!!!

Re: The Avengers 2. I heard on the Radio today that RDJ made $50 Million for the first Avengers but some of the other actors made much less (some as little as $200,000). For the sequel, they are negotiating as a block. My Prediction: many trucks full of cash will be backed up to many houses.

Just a WAG: I think Nick Fury may well be killed off in a glorious sacrifice during reel one of Avengers 2 in order to up the stakes. By the end of the film, Stark will have stepped into the role of Shield Director having some conflict with Maria Hill, which would cement him in a much smaller role for future Avenger flicks.

The problem is that Marvel likes playing hardball, so this could turn out ugly. Here’s a good article on it: ‘Avengers’ Cast And Stingy Marvel Ready To Rumble Over Sequel Cash & Strong-Arming

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Please don’t support the 3D market!
I know it’s a personal thing; but I think 3D is being shoved down our throats; and most of it just isn’t that good!
