So Max Carnage and I saw a free sneak preview of Iron Man on Tuesday, and it was very very good. A lot of fun, and Robert Downey Jr. was fantastic.
I’m not going to spoil anything, but I highly encourage people see it!

Saw a preview Tuesday night, also, with melodyharmonius. I thought as comic book adaptations go, it was on par with Spider-Man. Not as good as Batman Begins, light years ahead of Fantastic Four and Hulk. I somehow had no idea it was a Jon Favreau movie until the credits rolled.
BTW: best last line I’ve heard in a long time.
Did you stay through the credits? Was there anything at the end? I’ve heard the main release is going to have a little tag at the very end but that it’s been withheld from preview prints.
I’m going to see it tonight! Woo!
I’m going to have to sneak out of work early tomorrow. There’s not many movies I’ve been as eager for as this. And I didn’t even follow the Iron Man comics that much; it looks like it’s just that awesome of a movie.
Yes.
No.
Hadn’t heard that. Please apprise when you have more data.
I really want to see it.
I lurve Robert Downey Jr. and am really glad to see him back on track with his life.
A friend and I have our tickets for tomorrow after work
As a long-time Iron Man fan (the first comic I ever bought was a Shellhead book), I’m definitely looking forward to this one. It looks great and has been getting tons of positive buzz.
For what it’s worth, this is the first comics based movie that The Wife has shown any interest in seeing.
Nothing at the end of the credits on ours, although I’ve heard the same rumor. Can’t imagine they’d be shipping out two prints, but anything’s possible.
WARNING: Reading the url of the link below will provide the alleged post-credit SPOILER!!! BEWARE of running your mouse over it!
Here’s the scoop: Link.
ArchiveGuy: Awesome. I knew what the credit cookie was supposed to contain, but it’s good to have confirmation. I always sit through the credits anyway, but I wanted to know.
Yeah, that connects up two things I had heard, as well. Kool and the Gang.
Can’t wait to see it - I’ve been an Iron Man fan since i was a kid…
Going to see it tonight at 7:15 at the Ziegfeld. In spite of all the hassle involved, I always enjoy going to see highly anticipated blockbusters on opening weekend. Even if the movie isn’t so good, there’s an energy in the crowd that’s really enjoyable. Of course, Iron Man is apparently actually good. The reviews have been quite favorable:
NY Post: 3.5/4
Daily News: 4/5
Onion A.V. Club: B+
NY Times (non-pretentious): “And ‘Iron Man’ . . . has the advantage of being an unusually good superhero picture.”
NY Times (pretentious): “Within the big, crowded movements of this pop symphony is a series of brilliant duets that sometimes seem to have the swing and spontaneity of jazz improvisation. . .”
Amen.
AMC theaters in Kansas City started showing it at 8:00 last night, so we caught the 11:15 showing (hoping to cut back on the number of kids there and the glowing screens of their phones as they text away). It was definitely one of the better comic book adaptations. It’ll be nice to see the second one when they can skip the backstory.
Oh, and yeah, stay until the very end.
Bah. Other superheroes fight bad guys. Iron Man just fights wrinkles.
Yep, one of the best superhero flicks in years.
And definitely stay through the credits. While it’s no longer a secret as to who shows up and who’s playing him, what he has to say to Tony Stark will set racing the heart of every nerd in the audience.
The wife and I are going to see it tonight. I’ve seen the previews to it at other movies and it looks really good.

“Iron Man, Iron Man, does whatever an iron can…”
Holy crap, we loved this movie. This is a no-spoilers thread, so I won’t go into detail, but I want to see it again this weekend.
