The Iron Man Movie (no spoilers)

I think it’s my favorite comic hero movie ever. There hasn’t been a superhero portrayed this charismatically since Superman. This movie also had an edge, and rarely stooped to the unabashed lameness of Spiderman. In fact, there were moments that I thought were quite inspired. Probably the best robot/bionic movie ever, next to Robocop. And damn, I want that suit.

I did think Gwyneth was a little weak near the final showdown. But other than that, I give the movie a solid A. Can’t wait to see it again, can’t wait for a sequel, and I loved the final line by Iron Man.

I will be seeing it in 4.2 hours, I’m as excited as a little girl.

My son invited me to go see it at midnight last night with him and his friends, but I’m just too old for that kind of thing on a work night nowadays.

I’m taking my husband to see it tonight after work though, and I’m very excited.

Saw it last night.

It kicked ass. My friend is already trying to find plans online so he can make the armour for Hallowe’en.

I didn’t see the every end of the credits, but I stayed for a while and saw no extra spoiler. There was a (humorously repeated) mention of SHIELD though, so they may implictly tie it in with Jackson’s movie.

Just saw it a couple of hours ago. It was at the very end of the very loooong credits.
I thought it was an average superhero movie since they seemed to go through the motions of including scenes and shots that you’ve already seen elsewhere and are getting somehwat monotonous and cliche’:

Closeups of the suit being put on, flying real high till you run out of air or form ice, top powerful executive turns out to be the enemy, getting a flying device to hover in the lab, bad guy at at the end is a BIGGER version of the good guy, heroine downloading files without trying to get caught, etc.

Kind of a mix of Robocop, The Rocketeer, and the Green Goblin from Spiderman.

T-minus one hour till my showtime. (Checks wallet.) Good, still haven’t lost my tickets.

It was awesome. Hell, it was amazingly awesome. I felt like this was Favreau’s resume for an Avengers movie. At least they’re doing it right to connect their films, unlike DC. And Paltrow looked better than she had in years. They also had enough geek-trivia moments that I was satisfied. All they need now is for Thor to discover Cap in an iceberg and yell “Forsooth, it be hammer time!”

Yeah, I hope they make the Avengers movie happen. I was wondering last night who should play Thor, Captain America, and whoever else is on the team during the week the movie takes place. Who can hold their own alongside actors like Downey and Edward Norton from the neighboring Hulk movie?

Saw it last night. Loved it. I want that suit!

And now I have to see it again, to catch that last scene. At least that’s my excuse and I intend to stick with it.

My girlfriend wants Pepper’s shoes.

Saw it with the husband just now. Rocked our faces off. Best movie either of us have seen in a while. It’s very rare we actually leave the theater more excited than when we came in.

And for god’s sake STAY 'TIL THE END OF THE CREDITS. The scene is awesome in and of itself, but if you know anything about the Ultimate Marvel Universe it is like a thousand times more badass.

Holy crap this movie owns!

Thor: Kevin McKidd (Lucius Vorenus from Rome) – I actually heard he was in the running for Matthew Vaughn’s Thor movie for a while).
Captain America: as cliched as it is, Brad Pitt could work, or possibly Aaron Eckhart (although they’re both a little too old now).

Anyway, took my girl to see Iron Man today, she liked it, and I loved it. Definitely one of the best comic book movies yet. Robert Downey Jr. was outstanding, Gwyneth Paltrow was hotter than I’ve ever seen her as a redhead, and the armor was awesome (the cobbled-together Mark I armor is my personal favorite, enough so that I bought the action figure of it). I loved the fanboy touches like Stark’s constant drinking (sure to become an issue in the sequel), Terrence Howard’s “Next time” as he looked longingly at the silver armor, and of course the entire awesome scene after the credits, which made me mark out more than anything else.

Mah woman and I saw it last night, and it was awesome.

Unfortunately, I only saw the posts where folks said there was nothing at the end, so I left the theater and missed it. But yeah, the movie was a heck of a lot of fun.

Saw the movie tonight and it was fantastic. Easily the best superhero movie since X-Men 2.

The theater I was in was great, too. It was filled to the brim, and a lot of the audience was clearly of the fanboy persuasion. The theater erupted when…
Jim Rhodes looks at the silver armor and says, “Next time, baby.”

And, of course, the biggest applause was reserved for the Samuel Jackson scene at the end.
I’ll definitely be back to see it a second time.

Just saw the movie. It rocked! Just about everything I wanted to mention has already been said, but still have a funny anecdote to tell.

I was waiting for the end-credit-scene (stay and watch it!) and just another couple and myself were in the theater. When the scene came on I hear an usher-girl exclaiming “What?!? I didn’t know that!” Just that and her face as she watched the end scene with her jaw on the floor made me grin.

By the way, did anybody else really want to see Bridges say “This aggression will not stand, man.”

Or was that just me?

Until you posted that, I simply couldn’t place where I’d seen him before! D’oh! :smack:

Awesome, kickass movie with very good action and a nice dose of humor. Downey really nailed the role and his irreverence as great.

I loved it! Went to go see it with 10 or so friends on Thursday night. We booked Gold Class tickets, which means I had a GIANT seat, more leg room then I could ever need and at least a foot of arm rest space between each of us watching. Saved up my first Gold Class experience for a fantastic movie.

…even though we missed the secene at the end. Humph.
