Just show me the game!

Anybody else dread going to the official company website for a game? Case in point: http://www.callofduty.com First you have to enter your birthdate. Then you watch the progress bar waiting for all the delicious Flash crap to load. Too flashy, too cumbersome. And I remember when I was playing COD4 I tried to find the latest patch on their site, wasn’t easy. Wound up getting it from GamersHell or something.

So instead if I want to find out about a game I usually look for gameplay footage on Gametrailers.com or YouTube, and read reviews on GameSpot, IGN, user reviews on Amazon (which tend to have a curious blend of stupid and smart people) and a few others.

I’m also not interested in non-gameplay footage, I could care less about the cutscenes and concepts. Reminds me of the Atari 2600 game boxes, awesome art but the game was blocks and bleeps and bloops.
