Just so you know(about savekaryn.com)

She managed to get her debt paid off!

I posted this in the pit because I KNOW how much some of you just love her…

I give her six months before she’s back in debt again.

Is she now asking for little pieces of self-respect to replace hers?

I hope she’s learned her lesson.

But somehow I doubt it, now that she knows that her little panhandling gimmick worked, and it makes me wonder if she truly has learned financial responsibility as a result of this.

I just saw that in today’s paper. Bah! She’s just a beggar.

The bottom line for me is no one forced people to send her money. They did it of their own free will, and she took advantage of that. What she did was morally suspect, but I can’t say it was wrong. And why should she learn financial responsibility if people just send her money for nothing?

I think she’s learned her lesson (or I sure hope so…). If it weren’t for her site, she would have spent about 40 years paying off that debt, according to her own calculations.

What I didn’t like was her idea that because she once made a lot of money, that she should automatically spend a lot of it.

:: shrug ::

If people are stupid enough to give her money, then they deserve the loss. If people are honestly giving her money out of enlightened charity sentiments, then they know what they’re doing. Either way, there’s no real horrible wrongness here. Either she’s learned her lesson, and won’t go into debt again, or she’ll screw up again, and find that the general public isn’t going to be willing to bail her out again.

Though, I must admit, the more unscrupulous side of me considered adopting this idea to pay for next year’s tuition. But only for a second ;).

You wouldn’t be the first passenger on that gravy train.

Eh. I don’t really care. I think this woman is shameless, but I don’t really feel too much either way about what she did. No one was “hurt”, after all. (They wanted to send her money, knowing her situation.) Now, if she goes and gets herself in debt again, then I will feel intense irritation. But right now? Hey, she got out of debt. Good for her.

She has indeed. But it’s not the lesson you are thinking of. She has learned to avoid responsibility by manipulation. Despicable.

Brass balls, though.

JUST a beggar? My good man, she is an extraordinary beggar. I predict a great future in politics.

Good lord, spooje, what’s your damage? She didn’t manipulate a single soul, not even close. In fact, she was the embodiment of the opposite. She was as straight up, up front, no bullshit as it is possible to be. She didn’t blame anyone, she didn’t play victim, she said it clear and loud: I fucked up. Now I’m eating it. Care to help?

The hostility directed at this gal blows my mind…

I’m torn between “bitch has got a lot of nerve” and “why in the hell didn’t I think of that”

But hell, it worked didn’t it? I’d love to be debt free. All I owe is mortgage and car payments now. I tried for a couple of years to pay off credit card debt accumulated while building our house and such. I finally took out a small second mortgage at 8% interest to pay off the credit debt and now I am a lot smarter with it.

The thing is, she didn’t eat anything. She didn’t suffer at all, and everyone elser paid off her debt for her. She complained that she wouldnt be able to afford her beauty products or her louis vuitton clothes.

that is not “Eating it” by any stretch of the imagination.

She asked for help, she got it. Perhaps her friends and family know how she desperately needed to NOT be bailed out, but we don’t know anything, really.

I admit it—I’ve been “bailed out” many a time from my own stupidity. Perhaps on not such a spectacular scale, but I have. Many of us have. So I don’t feel enclined to be too judgmental, at least not this time.

If she does this again, though, I’ll be pretty disgusted.

I think in this case we could define it as “self respect” or “pride”.

I think fair play to the spoiled little princess. An artful beggar with a good idea that worked.

Eh. People gave her money. People use their money for all kinds of stupid things, like donating to the Republican party or buying Linkin Park CDs. I don’t see why she’s so despicable because she found an easy way to get people to give money to her. When other people do it, we praise them and call them shrewd business people.

There you are - high profit, low cost.

Yosemite, did you try to repay the people who bailed you out?

Because there is no way in hell that she deserved a single penny she was sent.

It was people choice to send her money. Just as it is my choice to brand her as a money grubbing whore with idea what life is like in the real world.

The worst part is she hinted that there is a movie deal in the works. She ain’t going away, folks.
