I don’t know what your deal is, cobber, but I’ve been checking it out intermittantly all afternoon while doing, or rather attempting to do, real work, with narry a problem. I have to wonder about all the complaints regarding connectivity; the board runs a bit slow at peak times (and sometimes in what I think should be off-peak times) but I don’t seem to have the persistant poor service or problems others complain about when connecting from either work (theoretically high throughput, realistically shitty connection) or home (medium throughput cable modem via 802.11g wireless, streams like the Mississippi). Maybe I’m just charmed–unlikely–or maybe it is, in fact, your ISP, but aside from the occasionally full outage I just don’t have that much to complain about.

Stranger’s experience is similar to mine. I log on here from a number of different sites and on different computers (in the last 10 days, from 4 locations) and I had nary a problem.
Daily I have troubles connecting. I can be surfing and opening threads for 20 minutes, then I’ll have loading troubles and after 5-10 minutes of waiting for a thread to load, I’ll give up and do something else. I’ve had this pattern for about 2 years now. I’ve just gotten used to the token loading troubles and go to another site for half an hour until the board wants to cooperate with me again. This happens on multiple computers in my home, on both physical cable connection and wireless, and at my school. I know your pain, Operation Ripper. I know it is bad to try and load multiple threads at once in different tabs, but I need to build up reading material, so when the loading problems come, I have a queue of threads to read until the board likes me again.
Not that threads like this ever change anything, but my experiences are like Operation Ripper and kushiel’s. Slow-ish but useable usually, mixed with periods of complete inaccessability when I actually do my work.
You should know that threads like this are pointless. Offers of money, hardware, bandwidth or technical services are never taken up; people will post that the board is fine/sucks for them, someone will make a prediction about TubaDiva appearing (oh look, it’s me!) then later TubaDiva will appear to say that they know about the problems, they’re working on them, slowly but surely, etc. etc. and then everyone gets back to posting 100 names of fast-food hamburgers, starting threads about their new cat, and pitting people who post about their new cat without including pictures of said cat. 
I rarely have waits of more than 30 seconds to a minute. Today has been pretty fast, actually. If it is not your computer or your ISP, why would your experience be different from mine?
Just like Stranger, I’ve been on and off here all day while working, and never delayed at all.
I get slow response at peak times once in a while, but not the connectivity problems others get.
Tuesday or Wednesday I got “page load error” for a full 15 minutes starting at (I think) 3:15 pm Chicago time (2115 UTC). A similar thing happened the next day at the same time, but only for 5 minutes. Another short slowdown an hour earlier the day after that.
Other sites gave me fine response.
Some kind of space/time continuum issue perhaps?
Reverse the polarity and amplify the ergion energy streams to fix the multi-dimensional rift in the space-time continuum?
