I planted a goldenchain tree five years ago, because I love them, they bloom so well here, and I needed to block the neighbor’s view into my bedroom with something nicer than a twelve foot high board fence.
Well, it has sat there, putting forth new growth and leaves galore every Spring and Summer, but nary a blossom, when all about town the goldenchain trees are dripping with golden blooms. grrr
This Spring I decided that if I didn’t get any flowers, I was going to dig it up and replace it. I even bought a hardy flowering crabapple to put in it’s place. I just opened the door to let the dogs out, and I have blossoms!!! Yay!!! Sometimes anticipation is a good thing, because those bright yellow flowers have truly lifted my spirits on this cold, rainey, island day.
Now, where to plant the crabapple??? As well as the impulse-buy lilac???
