Just when the heck is Morrowind coming to Xbox?!?

Well, I’ve been wanting to get it for PC, but numerous sources - including those that own the game (like my brother) - have suggested I wait 'til its Xbox release. Well, I have. I’ve looked online to numerous sources to find when, exactly, it’ll be available… some said “Early May”, some said “May 28”, others said “May 29”, one even said “3rd Quarter 2002”.

Well, here it is, May 29. I went out hunting all over the damn place to find it. NOBODY’s got it available, which leads me to think that - surprise! - it’s either not out yet (for Xbox), or they just haven’t put it on the shelves (in which case, I’ll kill those slimey bastards!).

So, WHEN can I get my SPOOFEy mitts on the damned game?!?

I’ve been waiting for it since last December and they keep pushing the date back about two weeks at a time (usually 3-5 days before the date hits.) Right now the official release date (according to amazon.com, who I’ve been checking for the release date all along) is June 7th. But note that until about three days ago it was May 30th. Before that it was May 10th. Before that is was Arpil 30th…all the way back to last December. It’s REALLY starting to piss me off but at least they won’t be releasing an unfinished game coughlucasartscough

Curiosity - why the XBox release? I would have thought that the PC interface of keyboard and mouse would be far more suited to this type of game, plus IIRC Arena and Daggerfall needed substantial patching and presumably you can’t apply a patch to a console game?

Alot of people (such as myself) simply don’t have the hardware to run it. And even if I could run it I would probably still get the Xbox version just to justify the ol’ dust gatherer.

I went to a video game store (Software Ect. I think). They had June 7th as the release date. I am also ready to buy. Anyday now…

Console ports generally take a bit longer because once it’s done, it’s done. There’s no going back to patch bugs.

I’m still resisting getting this one on the PC. I know I don’t have time to really get into it, but damn it looks tempting.

The PC hardware requirements are rather hefty. However, the Construction Kit for modding the game is very nice.

It’s in a very much better release state than Daggerfall was, but there are some issues they should really work out before putting a version out that’s unpatchable.

Hopefully they are making a bug-free version for the Xbox (which I would think would be easier to do than a PC cause the hardware’s a nonvarible). But with the Xbox’s HD, patches are always an option.

Which brings me to my next question, why not put the editor on the Xbox version? That would be great if they would have done that. Maybe it will be an addon later. Or maybe mods will be availible for download or on disk. Here’s hoping anyway…

I forget where I read it, but I’m pretty sure that patches aren’t allowed on the Xbox, even though they’re possible via the hard drive. Something about Microsoft not wanting the stigma of half finished games that patching brings.
