Boyd has another play for next season, if he can figure it out. Get Johnny to cop to killing Delroy for beating one of the prostitutes in exchange for his life and getting Eva a much lighter sentence for malicious mischief. Johnny is in love with Eva. He might do it.
We never did find out if the hooker was Drew’s daughter. Perhaps they’ll bring Jim Beaver back next season? He really has an avuncular presence as an actor, a pleasant change from all the posturing.
Ellen May needs to get her shit together and remember that Ava probably saved her life by killing Delroy. I think Ellen May was on drugs at the time though, so maybe someone needs to refresh her memory about how that went down.
Of course they did, and of course they would have caught him if Rayland hadn’t shown up and taken Boyd on a road trip.
If they just stole the body they would know the body was stolen, switching the body = not delroy, case closed. And why wouldn’t they believe the switched body was Delroy?
Height, weight, age, dental records, DNA, decomp status, the body doesn’t look like the one brought up from the mine, and the guy didn’t die from a gunshot. Ava got him with a shotgun so wouldn’t there be pellets in him? Holes? Residue on his clothes?
Once they figured that out, there’d be evidence at the cemetery that a grave had been opened.
True, not Delroy = case closed. But no body also equals case closed.
They didn’t want them to believe the swtiched body was Delroy - they wanted it to be ‘not Delroy’.
Remember, Ellen May’s statement was “they thru Delroy down that shaft” - so all they needed was the body that was recovered from the shaft to be ‘not Delroy’ - it doesn’t close the case of ‘what happened to Delroy’ - but it does close the case on “Ellen May knows”.
That’s the point! the only reason they know any of that is because Ellen Mae told them, if none of that is true of the body they found then they have no case. That is exactly why they switched the body, if they just stole the body there would still be a crime to solve: the corpse is missing. They wanted the cops to think Ellen Mae was lying and the body was just a random crackhead.
exactly.
Still wondering what Church Lady’s play is in all of this - I know part of it is revenge against Boyd - but what role in that last bit?
:smack: Now I get it. I’m starting to question my thought processes. It shouldn’t be this complicated.
I also wondered why Church Lady showed up at the end. Maybe it was just a final shot of an interesting character.
Are you kidding me? Ellen May had no intention of ratting out Ava
and then Ava tried to have her killed. And even after that, she still had no intention of ratting out Ava
Right- her intention was to “clean her own conscience” for her part - she really wasn’t thinking about how that implicated/caused Ava problems.
I think it is possible that there is a leak in the Marshals Office back to Detroit. I presume that the question of who told Nicky’s crew where Wynona lives and that she was pregnant was left open as a storyline to develop next year.
Sammy’s the son of Theo Tonin who previously had been depicted as a lightweight. I remember the actor as the videographer with the pork pie hat on Homicide. He’s got two Justified credits on imdb but not for the finale yet, so he hasn’t shown up much.
True, but since then, she must have talked, or Ava wouldn’t have been arrested. Ava saved Ellen May’s bacon by killing Delroy, and Ellen May needs to remember that.
Ava walks unless Ellen May testifies against her. And even if Ellen May does testify, Ava may still walk. Ellen May will be a terrible witness. A drug addict prostitute bank robber who was being hunted by her pimp?
Ava can say that it was Ellen May that killed her pimp and that Ava helped her dispose of the body. The only evidence that contradicts this is Ellen May. It was Ellen May, by her own words, that had motive to kill him. Ava’s motivation for swapping the body would be to protect Ellen May.
And you need to remember Ava had ordered Ellen May killed for something she was never going to do. She would have died if she didn’t escape. And even after that, she still had no intention of telling anyone. Probably wasn’t until after Ava and Boyd were going to send Shelby, someone Ellen May cares about, to be killed.
What is wrong with you?
They could have gotten all the info they needed on Wynona from Duffy. Quarles, with Duffy, killed her estranged husband and left him on her doorsetp. She wouldn’t be hard to find after that.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with me. This all started because Ava killed a man to protect a drug-addicted trailer park prostitute.
Ava didn’t know what we knew about Ellen May. And even with Ellen May’s newly discovered conscience, she’s not someone I’d trust to keep quiet. And she didn’t keep quiet.
Yeah, the main reason they had for killing Ellen Mae was because she was dumb as a box of rocks.
How dare her not be loyal to the girl who’s been trying to kill her and the guy who’s been protecting her!
I read one recap that pointed out the episode was titled “Ghosts,” and the episode (and the season overall) show Boyd and Raylan haunted by their pasts. Not that Cassie was a ghost, but Boyd did feel somewhat guilty about the preacher dying, and it’s possible that Boyd seeing Cassie was because of his guilty conscience, not because she was actually there. I don’t know if I agree with that interpretation, since it does seem a little atypical of Justified, but I thought it was interesting.
