K2, P2 - A Knitty MMP

gt, you’ve created a knitter’s siren song of an MMP! Hello to the newly lured!

I’m another cross-stitcher who gets all drooly looking at floss and glass beads and even-weave linens. On the rack right now is Teresa Wentzler’s Fruit Bell Pull. I’ve finished the cherries at the bottom and I’m about a third of the way up the plums. I’m kinda dreading the grapes!
Bobbio, great work on the library.

mommio, OMG Ziva’s tail! the squee!

W00TS! Way to go, mouse!

{{Silver}} Cute guys, you say?
Spring is in my heart only. It’s been raining, snowing or sleeting all day. I’ve been puttering around the house the past couple days tidying this and wiping that in between little breaks to surf and play a game or two of Lexulous online. I’m done until mr. j goes back again next Tuesday. Then all the pictures will come down for a cleaning. I’ve got to remember to pick up some of those little rubber stick-ons for the backs of the pictures so they don’t move when the door slams.

Went for a rare brekkie out this morning. For the first time ever the hash browns (really, giant cubes of potatoes) were *steaming *hot necessitating a bit of tongue juggling to avoid a scalding. Better than lukewarm taties, certainment.

After le cuisine, we stopped by the post office and picked up income tax forms, came home and got right to it. REFUND! Beeeeg one!

Mahna, tsk, I hope you Mom’s not in too much distress. Come back and unbend your ear, okay.

Sending some feel better/perkier vibes to you, Spaz. The FRHS sounds very therapeutic, though.:stuck_out_tongue:

LiLi, I can just smell the grease just looking at some of those…meals.

Wait, Soapy!!! Come back!!! Tell us about therapy! Tell us about anything…everything. You’re SUPPOSED to hijack the MMP, you know.

Oh, and non-knitters, please talk about hobbies, tools, really anything else is fine. Honest.

Ooooh, that link is dangerous, LiLi.

I have Valentines. Gotta put them together and address them. And find stamps.

Back later, of course.

ETA: pretty bell pull, cj.

GT

Blurf.

What does blurf mean? I’ve tried to look it up here but can’t find anything.

Yay for the interview Mouse!

I just skimmed things, going nuts here now. Got a letter today from the landlord saying they were FINALLY changing the windows/door in our townhouses (after talking about it practically since we moved in, and doing all the other townhouses in the complex and having them finished about two years ago… we’re the lone group out).

Guess when they start? Go on! You’ll never guess!!!

Tomorrow.

So tonight I have to do my usual cleaning up after supper, get Velociraptor’s Valentine’s cards ready for school tomorrow (with his help, if he’ll cooperate) AND get everything away from the windows and front door, down if it could potentially fall from vibrations and cover everything else with sheets to keep it from getting dusty.

This townhouse isn’t that big, and I tend to nest in my room so as soon as I finish this post the FIRST thing I am doing is packing up all my yarn in plastic containers (two big ones should be enough… I hope… some of it sits out in baskets, it’s too pretty to put away and we don’t really have issues with moths here). Then I have to pack up books and actually, y’know, clean my bedroom so cute window guys don’t see my bras thrown over the back of the chair and do the same with the living room, the dining room, and two other bedrooms (Velociraptor’s and FlutterMom).

I had hoped to get to bed early because I haven’t been sleeping that well. And my tendinitis is acting up today.

sighs Help?

I just found out that the Amgen bike tour is going to be going right past my road! That wouldn’t be so surprising but I live in the middle of nowhere in the coastal mountains and we don’t even have a store. Their last big uphill stretch is going to be coming up here from the coast and then looping back down into town. Lance Armstrong is going to be riding right past my mailbox

What? No poutine?

Shrilley, you come flouncing into an MMP once every 3 months. What on earth gave you the outlandish idea you’re now in charge? :dubious:

FCMom will be pissed, 'cuz you never sent her chocolate.

Skim! Skim!

I have no idea what’s going on here. But I think it’s doggio’s birthday! So if it is,** HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!**

Want. Snickers. Pie. NOW.

In fact, I want one of those with a bacon donut to wash it down.

So Mumsy Dearest is better than expected, albeit still very unhappy and worried. She’s still not sure if she’s going to Little Sis’s Big Fucking Special Day (as I will refer to the wedding going forward), but she seems to be resigned to the fact that it will go ahead with or without her.

As for me, it looks like I’ll probably put my big girl boots on and make an appearance, because it’s the right thing to do… but I’m still hoping against hope that she’ll realise what a ginormous mistake she’s making. If they’re that much in luuuuurve, their relationship could wait a few months until they sort out jobs and a place to live, no?

Thanks for the wise advice, LiLi, and for the reality check. You’re the bestest.

Blurf is the first thing you say in the morning, when you’re trying to wake up but ain’t yet there.

I was just coming in to say what Pie said:
Happy Birthday, doggio!!!

I don’t envy you your sister, Muppet. But, yeah, you should probably go if you can.

I’d help you pack if you were nearby, Flutter.

GT

I have orientation with the outplacement services firm tomorrow afternoon. Also, my slippers came today. They’re warm and toasty.

soapy, share! (If you want to, of course.) That’s what the MMP is for.

Happy Birthday, doggio!

Cause I’m a woman and naturally bossy? (Wait, there is a redundancy in that sentance.) :0
Fine, go talk about yer terlet and all its glories!
BOT, and it is whiny…

Last week, my husband came home sick as a dog with diareahea ( I hate speeling that word.) and spent All Tuesday and Wednesday in bed. He has never taken a day off of work for sickness in 20 years. Came home sick. Sent home sick, but never willfully stayed home sick. Went to work Thursday with his back hurting from laying about and came home CRABBY. Like Colonel Von Trapp irritated at his children for dressing in curtains kinda crabby. He is Little Miss Mary Fucking Sunshine 99.5 percent of the time. I shooed him to bed. He had friday off ( 4 day work week because of the economy.) and spent the weekend laying low because his back.

Refused to listen to me or my two bff’s ( one’ is an OT the other has a master’s in Sport’s medicine) that he needs to move around to make his back feel better. He moved some mattresses last night and GOSH HIS BACK FELT BETTER. imagine THAT!

He now has a very nasty head cold and was in bed before 8pm tonight. I spent the entire part of last week lysoling EVERY STUPID thing that could possibly be touched by my husband and I WON with my total GERMAPHOBIA as NO ONE ELSE GOT SICK here AT CASA UJEST!!!111!!!
Now I have to break out the lysol again and just nuke everything. My hands are raw and chapped from all the washing and cleaning.

Look, I enjoy my OCD hand washing and my Germophobia as much as the next person, but NOT TWO WEEKS IN A ROW!
I CAN’T GET A STINKIN break around here.

Happy Birthday dogbutler !!!
……*

Thanks, Pie. I had a good day. After work, a couple of friends from the Booster Club bought me beers, then i went to the Canes’ STH party. Free* food, autographs, and a talk from Coach Mo, the [del]former[/del] current coach.

gt, speaking of tools, I bought a FUBAR. I feel like smashing something. : grunts manly :

Yay, mousie! HR is the appendix of a business.

FCM, Ziva is a nifty looking cat.

smartie, Gordie didn’t touch the cables behind those signs, so yeah, he can read.
speaking of which, I ran him last night, and he was wound up for 6 hours. Tonight it was just once around the building, and he’s resting quietly at my feet. I guess he’s activity dyslexic.

*with the purchase of $900-$5000 worth of season tickets.

Happy Birthday, Doggio!

Happy Birthday Doggio!

You’ve all been a bunch of Chatty Cathy’s, I swear!

I don’t knit or crochet. I tried my hand at cross-stitching many, many years ago, but it wasn’t for me.

I’m just not all that crafty, although I’d love to try pottery or glass blowing.

Work is, erm…interesting. Our new LTC has spent the last two days having long discussions with myself and the remaining analyst in my shop. Expectations are high…all around. My hair may turn totally white in the next few months.

On the other hand, he’s informed us that he intends to backfill for the two postions of the folks who went regional and he fully expects both of us remaining analysts to apply for the supervisory position that was left vacant. While it’s a good opportunity for me, I really don’t relish the idea of being a supervisor. Additionally, I’m not sure the whole five percent raise (because it’s NSPS) is worth it. I’m due a step increase in the summer too. If it could come in at what I would make if it was straight transfer to a GS 12, step two, it would be worth it. By going NSPS, my salary would be four grand less. Additionally, it’s a high vis position. While I’m confident that I could actually do it, I’m really waffling. The other thing is that there will be strong competition for this position. There’s time, yet, but I need to update and polish my resumix.

There are other things going on too, and I’m worried that bridges are being burned. I’m not burning them myself, but by virtue of being “caught in the middle” so to speak, I’m the one who’s going to pay the price, along with our organization. It’s way to much to go into, so I’ll leave it at that.

Well, I think I’m gonna sit back and watch a flick.

Hugs and smooches to all!

~Happy Birthday doggie!~

Prof. Rapunzel, please tell us about your therapy! This MMP must be hijacked soon - it’s already the middle of the week where I am and we’re still more or less on the OP topic. Unacceptable.

Rebo, that looks like a cool bike. Irish Co-worker (sidenote: must find new name for him) doesn’t like Harleys for some reason - probably just because they’re American. He’s all about the Italian bikes it seems.

Yay for mousie, hugs for ST and Shelli.

Really? Usually I go with either fuck or shit (not a morning person, can you tell?)

Happy Birthday Doggie!

Thanks for the support everybody. I’m kinda depressed tonight and I think it’s PMS. I just got in a whole ‘poor me’ thing on the drive home from taijitsu, cuz I’ve got no girlfriends who live near me (the closest one is an hour a way and we only talk a few times a year) and I’ve got hardly any friends at all (except for the wonderful people I’ve met on the Dope!) I’m kinda over it now, but I just feel bleh and there’s things I need to do. Ugh. It sucks being an adult.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Happy Arfing Barkday, Doggio!

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Hippie Frakkin’ Boifday, Doggio!!

Now try it with JUST a six inch square sign hanging NEAR the cables, just in the interests of science!

Toldja, mmousie! HR pukes are annoying but unfortunately you can’t spray for them so they’re everywhere. Good luck on the job…

{{{ShinyTyger}}}

LiLi, that site is HORRIBLE! I’ve forwarded it to everybody I know, of course–thanks!

I bumped up my workout to forty minutes on the elliptical today and my hips know it happened, so…

HOT TUB!!! SPLASH!!

Soapy, get your narrow ass in here, have an adult beverage and tell Aunty Smarty all about it–the rest of you knitwits can do what you want, us party peeples will be over here!

You too, Doggio, come get a birfday neck rub! :stuck_out_tongue: Bring Gordie, we’ll make him swim in circles until he’s tuckered out… And your FUBAR, that’s one sexy tool you got there… eyebrow waggle
