She’s making her points, and making them well. I like how she started with Trump’s plan, implied what it meant for the US, and now is moving on to more palatable things.
That’s precisely what they want us to believe, like Nixon’s “silent majority” except puffing themselves up and making weird noises like a sage grouse instead of being silent. Just saying.
I’m shocked that there are as many MAGAs as there are, and that the race is as close as it is. It should’ve be. It’s become a contest largely between urban/rural, between educated/uneducated, and thanks to Trump and the MAGAs, between women/men. That Lincoln Project ad was a good one. I hope that that’s the way it plays out.
She looked nervous initially and stumbled over some of her lines but she finished strong. She didn’t say anything new but she leaned into the American vision and dream. I liked that she got cheers as she called out to each constituency, young voters, women, men, LQBTQ voters, union workers and even Republicans. I think she stressed that there is a place for everyone in her vision.
Did anyone else hear the annoying siren at the beginning of her speech? Seemed like she was competing with that noise, which made her sound unsteady and rushed.
Ha! Yes, I do! I think it was an awesome speech all around. I moved to CA in ‘99, so I’m familiar with her work here, so I expected a great “Closing” argument.
Trump’s been working towards this for however many years. Harris was thrust into this ninety days ago. And they’re neck-and-neck. Everything else aside, that’s amazing.
I think the LP ad is a very clever strategy. I’m also utterly sickened that in 2024 there are women who have to cook up a scheme, I Love Lucy style, to cast their own vote.
Trump has never won a majority of voters. And since he ascended to office in 2016, the Republicans have failed in the next 3 national elections.
I’m so glad she took my advice! Obama ended his campaign in ‘08 with very large crowds, and I was hoping that she’d also gather together a huge group of supporters. I think people want to be a part of something big, and she’s given them that feeling of representing a winning side.
