If you want to be held to the standard ‘no sentence thorny_locust types is t_l’s opinion; every sentence thorny_locust types is verifiable fact,’ then…fine.
In re endorsements for Kamala Harris: Yay, LeBron James!
I mean, it’s not as though his fan base was likely to be largely MAGA. Still: his stepping up is appreciated. (No doubt a lot of celebrities don’t endorse because they just prefer not to get into politics or prefer to keep their views private. Holding back from endorsing may not be about fear of Trump but instead just a dislike of getting into the fray. So when they do step up, it means a lot.)
He also co-hosts a podcast along with Katty Kay (“The rest is politics - US edition”) which has been once of the best out there this cycle and has been keeping me sane all summer, he’s a generally good pundit with especially good insight from his experience on what’s going on behind-the-scenes in Trumpworld. He makes no bones about the fact that’s he’s a never-Trumper but still holding old-school R economic beliefs.
If I express an opinion in the form of expressing a fact and somebody calls me on it, sure, I’ll accept the correction if I can’t back it up as a fact.
If what I said was “I don’t like lemon in my tea”, that’s an unverifiable opinion that I’m entitled to have because it’s about the inside of my own head; not somebody else’s.
I’ll just take it that you’re agreeing that what you said wasn’t factual.
Not sure how much of an “indicator” this is, but there’s some favorable movement today over at Predictit. Couple of different markets over there that would all be considered correlated :
“Who will win the Presidency?”
“Will Kamala Harris be the 47th President?” (I suppose the variable there would be if Biden resigns).
Today I saw a Harris-Walz sign spray painted to read “Harry-Ballz”
I tittered like a ten year old for half a minute. Then I remembered the spray paint artist was likely a racist piece of shit that’s supporting a felon rapist fascist to destroy our Republic and it wasn’t so funny anymore.
Maybe if things go well on Tuesday I’ll remember back on that sign and allow myself to giggle again.
