I ate a little more of my cat than i wanted to while i finally watched the debate on YouTube tonight. I was brushing my cat, and he’s shedding, and the fur went everywhere.
Right. And on top of that, people who are happy to be weird, who embrace and acknowledge their own weirdness, fully understand that there are multiple flavors of it, and know that their weird is not the same as others. They can differentiate, and they aren’t insulted.
It’s the people who don’t know that they’re weird, who think they’re normal but aren’t, who can’t make the distinction, and who take it as an insult.
(bangs gavel) Full Weird Ahead.
Cat hair is high in fiber and protein. At least that is what my wife claims…
We have not seen much poll activity after the debate. I am curious.
That would also explain the kittens being dressed up as cows; which had been puzzling me. So I suspect you’re right.
I’ve never seen one of the Chick-fil-A signs; but then, there isn’t one near me.
Yeah. The trick is in what direction(s) you’re weird in. Some directions are great; some are meh; and both of those are fine. But some are awful.
I think (based on rectally derived information) that “weird” as a positive may be a much more common use among people likely to vote for Harris than among people likely to vote for Trump. Which means, come to think of it, that it can’t be effectively used against us; but can be effectively used against them. I guess I’ll put up with it. (Not that I have much choice; they didn’t have me in the focus group.)
There are a lot of musicians endorsing Harris:
To be fair, here is a list of musicians endorsing Trump (it is shorter than the list for Harris):
Yep. The blue dot of Austin in the red sea of Texas has an unofficial motto of ‘Keep Austin Weird’.
Yeah; one of my first thought on seeing “weird” used as an attack on Vance etc. was “How is this going to go over in Austin?”
But, as you say, it’s a blue dot; and I doubt is going to become less so over this.
My weird and your weird are completely different. In a broad sense.
I went to Austin on business a couple of times twenty years ago and those Keep Austin Weird signs were all over the place. It’s definitely relative because it seemed completely vanilla to me. I’m a lifelong Californian and it was about a 2/10 on the weird scale from what I have seen in my life.
Yeah there are those of us who get called weird and smile “yup!” More likely those are the those of us who are the good weird. We lean blue. (Mind you getting to that place was sometimes a process.)
And there are those of us who get call weird and scream “am not! take it back!” … not likely the good weird and lean red.
Post-debate poll shows Harris up by 5% over Trump ( 47% to 42%):
The “Keep Austin Weird” thing was already borderline rubbish 25 years ago when the small/independent business community came up with the campaign to promote buying local. The city itself was never as weird or as blue as the stereotype/marketing campaign made it out to be.
And it’s not a blue dot. All of the major Texas urban areas are blue and their suburbs are often blue or at least purple. But also highly gerrymandered, e.g. CD 15 is a skinny district that runs hundreds of miles from the south of Austin literally to Mexico.
But yeah, it doesn’t matter. It’s about how the person takes it. The ones who want to think of themselves as “normal” on the one hand and start spreading rumors about immigrants eating pets on the other are the sort to take it poorly.
There’s “Rest of the country” weird and there’s “California” weird.
Different scales. Maybe logarithmic.
“Breaking out” is a bit hyperbolic given the last Reuter Ipsos poll was H+4. So far the bump is up 2 from previous on Morning Consult and up 1 from previous on Reuter Ipsos. More polls to come by Monday I am sure.
I’m hoping the shout out to Pennsylvanian Poles over Trump’s Russia Ukraine bit will specifically show better than national results in PA. PA apparently has a Polish population twice the national average at 5.67%. Not sure how they usually lean…
i don’t know how they lean in pa, in philly the local ukrainian league had a watch party…i don’t believe they appreciated trump’s ideas.
