Kamala Harris and the runup to the 2024 Presidential Election {No more on Guns}

Also, this is a gift link to the NYT poll tracker page which has a few polls conducted after Biden stepped aside. They do appear to show a shift in Harris’ direction.

And it shouldn’t be hard. “They want to ban and criminalize abortion everywhere; we will make it legal everywhere. We will rein in global warming; they deny that it’s happening.” And so forth.

The chasm between the two parties has never been greater, and it’s simple and straightforward to spell out the major differences.

LOL. You’re practically quoting multiple political ads here in Western Washington. Not ads for the presidential race (I haven’t seen any of them) but many state positions have ads running and those could have been taken word-for-word from them. You are correct that these are big issues, simple ones that the Democrats have an advantage on, and if they can be coordinated and get the message out consistently it will go a long way toward pushing back on Republicans in all races this November.

While we desperately need to do something – multiple things – about global warming: nothing* that we do now is going to fix it within the next four years. “We will work to rein in and also to mitigate the effects of global warming” is longer, but less likely to bite you come time to seek a second term.

Admittedly, she’s got to win the first term first –

(Well, short of enough nuclear war to set off global winter, anyway. But that would hardly be an improvement.)

I like it.

Also interesting … the crowd chanting Ka-ma-LA! puts the accent on the third syllable. Technically, they’re mispronouncing it, but it clearly doesn’t dilute the impact. Which is why Trump & Co. intentionally mispronouncing it as an insult falls flat. It’s a “so what”? The more the name gets said, the better.

What sounds better as well as being truthful is to say that they will implement programs to help mitigate the effects of global warming and start the recovery process. That’s hopeful, accurate, and isn’t making promises that they can’t possible fulfill.

There you go.

That video is freaking fantastic. Not just the hopefulness and the hipness, but the quick little bit (that is short to not dominate the video or change its tone) to remind you of how much a monster Trump is. I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s the best political ad I’ve seen in a while. I hope everything to come is as good as that is.

I have been seeing Harris campaign ads on FB for some time, and sometimes Biden/Harris with Harris picture even before that.

I do not trust the NYT anymore, but here is a link to 538-

Still Harris is within a point or two of trump. but mostly a point or two better than trump.

I managed to pause it at the right spot to read the doctor’s nametag (at 0.49.)

Dr. Austin Dem(the rest invisible)
Obstetrics/Gyn(the rest invisible)

Beautiful attention to a detail that probably most people won’t even see!

It seems as though Individual-ONE has distorted our memories so badly that we cannot get our dates right anymore.

It is sad to say that some trump women voters are just stupid.

Thank you~I wondered about that after the edit window closed. You’re right, of course. It was 2008 (Obama) and 2020 (Biden) when the (D) presidential candidate got the one split off Electoral College vote in Nebraska.

Thank you for catching that. I can only hope for that tiny bit of history to repeat itself in 2024.

It is a good video, but I do wonder if Joe winced when he heard the lyric “Imma keep running 'cause a winner don’t quit on themselves…” at the end. :man_facepalming:

Eek I missed that. :confounded:

I hope this will assuage some of the voters who were concerned about Biden’s tack on Gaza.

Meanwhile, multiple tee shirt sites are offering this:

And….the Obamas are in. I actually supported them waiting to endorse until the final nomination but I’ll take it anyway.

The video isn’t showing up on my feeds but I saw it on the TV.

So did I. I thought he might be staying neutral so he could seem like the unbiased elder statesman at the convention.

And maybe he was, but considered there was no longer a need for it, and that Harris would benefit more from his announcement now. One thing might be to make those “I’m black and I’m not voting for Kamala” adsposts on Twitter have to go after him, too.

“Childless cat ladies.” Jeez. What is so wrong with that?

I’m childless, I love cats (I’ve owned at least a dozen in my life), and I’m a man. So two out of three ain’t bad, I guess.

My ex, however, is a childless lady, who loves cats. She is also American. Guess who she will not be voting for, based on that remark by Vance?

It’s ok, spoons~I’m only 2 for 3 myself, just ask my kids.
