I’ll make a prediction, with the caveat that this is entirely a “vibes”/feelings prediction:
Kamala will go on to win, and win convincingly, both in the electoral college and popular vote. Trump will make all kinds of nutty claims about how he was cheated (including the same type of claims he made in 2020/2021), but the claim he’ll stick with is that the Democrats “cheated” by replacing Biden with Kamala late in the process, and thus it wasn’t fair.
Please take this as seriously as you would any prediction from an internet stranger.
I sure is nice to see a lot of smiling in that ad!
Trump never laughs or genuinely smiles, so it is refreshing.
But he sure does smirk.
And we were told for so long that no new Democratic nominee could succeed in this election because taking away incumbent advantage would be a repeat of 1968…

I genuinely laughed out loud. Both times I watched it.
Heck, carefully spaced out, the Harris campaign could do a series of this type of attack ad, given all the crap Trump says - short sharp jabs that get the point across while making folks laugh and enraging the target again and again.
They were likely gonna wait but all the people going “well Obama hasnt endorsed her, so…” so they decided to go a little early.

And Rep. Yadira Caraveo (D-CO) endorsed Harris BEFORE condemning Harris’ “border czar” failure. Sheesh.
They have changed the message from “We’re in an existential crisis and Democracy itself is at stake” to “Those guys are weird”. It’s an interesting tactic designed to appeal to those who think that the world didn’t fall apart during Trump’s first term and isn’t the Constitution strong enough to stand anyway but also think that those guys are kind of weird.

What limits - if any - exist WRT a sitting VP advancing positions other than those of the administration of which she remains a part? I’m just wondering to what extent Kamala can say, “Well yeah, on immigration Joe says xyz, and I am strongly supporting his policy choices - the fulltime job I was elected to perform. But I think he’s full of beans and am going to do otherwise the day after I’m inaugurated!”
Legally, no limits at all. But taking this position would lead to questions – “If you so strongly opposed the Administration’s policy choices, what did you do about it? How did you argue against them within the Administration? Why didn’t you speak out publicly – was your loyalty to Biden greater than your loyalty to the people who suffered as a result of the Administration’s choices?”
It’s just really hard for a Vice President to put distance between him/herself and the Administration they’ve been a part of.
The only response Harris should give on immigration is
“We already negotiated in good faith a deal to address issues at the border with immigration. This deal was put together by Republican Senator James Lankford of Oklahoma who was one of the architects of this bill. It was a highly effective bill and had bipartisan support in the Senate. However, House Speaker Johnson was ordered by Donald Trump to kill this bill because it would prevent the former President from being able to use immigration as a campaign issue. Like the Trump puppet he is Speaker Johnson refused to allow it to come to a vote. Let us be clear - this failure to act on one of the most important issues to Americans is due to games played by Congressional Republicans and former President Trump. One of my first actions as President will be to reintroduce this bill in the new Congress, see it passed and sign it into law as soon as it comes to my desk.”
I’m certain this could be stated better by her or other Democrats but it is the point they must hammer over and over. There is no need to separate her policy stance on this issue from that of President Biden.
I also hope the Harris campaign takes the kid-gloves off and poke and prod and goad Trump at every opportunity. Make him the old, doddering candidate. Make him the felon, make him the unrepentant liar, make him the insane nut that he is. And do so constantly…hammer it home without remorse.
