I’m keying on the terms “possible partial mobilization” here and logically concluding that this must be the “warning order” Loach mentioned upthread. It’s reasonable to therefore conclude that Walz’s retirement paperwork was submitted before the warning order came in.
As it happened, Walz’s former unit got their mobilization orders about four months later, in July, then shipped off in the fall.
It’s the sound you make when you try to speak while eating one. (It’s a potato pancake.) Do they do hotdish in Luxembourg? Maybe Tim and the Grand Duke could swap recipes.
Back on topic: does the Swiftboating appear to be getting any traction?
n.b. Shipped off for six months of training, which I think raises the question of what it means to have purportedly abandoned his unit while they were “preparing to go to war.” If he put in his papers in February or March, and “preparing” there means “waiting to hear about the possibility that they might begin training in eight months,” I don’t think that’s going to land for anyone not already predisposed to dislike Walz.
If they’re going keep up the swiftboating bullshit, then the Dems need to demand the medical records that allowed Captain Bonespurs to avoid serving. Also, why was Jimmy Olsen hiding behind his correspondent role? Was he too chicken? Forget going high…hit them as low as they want to go.
I don’t even think talking about Trump’s disservice is going low. The man has been very critical of fallen soldiers and heroes like John McCain. Brutal coming from a blatant draft dodger. Just some scumbag rich boy lying piece of shit laughing at those that served their country.
If it works it works. Is Walz working wonderfully well? We wonder. Watching whether Walz works well… western witnesses welcome worthwhile words, wishing, we wait.
Well, according to Fox, he’s a total con. Harris said that, to his former football players, Walz was ‘coach’. But Fox has uncovered the truth: he was only an assistant coach.
Funny but Harris actually mentioned that when she introduced him in PA. I believe she said something like he was the linebacker coach. I would not expect a Social Studies teacher to be the main coach.
I really hope Fox continues to hammer on that and other similar complaints. No one cares but their most rabid fans (who aren’t voting for Harris anyway), and it makes them look like idiots to everyone else. Plus, the more air time devoted to stupid stuff like that, the better.
The students were downright giddy about the possibility that their former teacher could be the vice president. Their text chains lit up with old pictures and stories about Walz. One described it as surreal. Another marveled at what a normal guy he still is. Another said he was glad America was finally getting to know the man who was so important to them.
The lesson he ultimately took away from Walz was less about geography and more about the value of public service and the importance of everyone finding a way to contribute to the greater good.
Kristina Rothenberg was a student the last year Walz taught. Rothenberg describes him as always smiling in the halls, someone who listened, who wanted to make people’s lives better.
Lots of good stuff in there about the kind of person/teacher Walz is.
