**FALSE-**As Minnesota governor, Tim Walz signed a law making it illegal for people to discriminate against pedophiles.
This next article really clarifies Walz’s military record-
Laura Ingraham is the genius who recently bashed Walz for the horrible conditions in Milwaukee under his leadership as governor of Minnesota:
“If you know Minnesota — and I know it well — especially Milwaukee, it’s changed,” the talk show host said.
Apparently it’s “changed” by moving several hundred miles west!
Why not? When I was in high school, the head football coach was a Biology teacher. Most high schools (at least the ones not in Texas) don’t have the resources to hire someone SPECIFICALLY to be a football coach or a basketball coach or… Yeah, it’s common for them to be PE teachers; our wrestling coach taught Drivers Ed (which became problematic when he lost his license for a DUI). Still, there’s a lot of different activities in schools; they can’t afford to hire outside teachers for most of them.
I doubt if Laura Ingraham was ever on a sports team that had multiple coaches. In my small high school, our football team had three coaches: the head coach and two assistant coaches. We didn’t call them ‘head coach’ and ‘assistant coach’, we called them ‘Coach Smith’ and ‘Coach Jones’ and ‘Coach Wilson’.
Heck, I saw one of the assistant coaches last week, and addressed him by ‘Coach Jones’. And I’m guessing that’s how Walz’s former players still address him as well.
You know what the proper form of address is, for an assistant coach?
Coach.
Yes, see my post right above yours.
To parse out what occurred, the original language of the bill was awkward, but explicitly stated sexual orientation as a protected status did not include sexual interest in children. The bill was edited to clean up the awkwardness. In doing so the explicit mention of children was removed.
The panty-twisters think that by omitting that explicit reference, someone will eventually try to claim interest in children is their sexual orientation and is thus protected. This is paranoia to be sure, but exactly the kind of paranoia the panty-twisters show when going after transgender people as perverts just trying to prey on women and children.
Age is not mentioned as a protected orientation. Other laws make pedophilia illegal.
First rule of posting: read all the way to the end, first. [\headsmack]
I’m watching the rally in Arizona. Walz is a great hype man.
I just finished watching it. And after seeing both Shapiro and Kelly speak now, I’ve got to say that Harris made absolutely the right call. Walz is a great communicator and a genuine mensch.
And as much as I am a huge fan of Walz’s down-to-earth goodness, by the time Harris finished speaking I had almost forgotten about how impressive he was. Because she is hitting every critical point with absolute credibility and conviction. She is stunning.
That’s good. I don’t recall her being a strong speaker during her Presidential run. But she has had a lot of opportunities to get better.
I think her hands were tied in that primary run because she had to thread the needle of (a) setting herself apart from the competition without (b) attacking them directly in a way that damaged her connection with and standing in the party. Every conventional primary contender has to navigate this challenge (except Trump, who was just a wrecking ball); she was more obviously awkward than most. Now, she has a wide-open target and no reason to hold back.
Oh, well, Biden is often regarded by progressives as pretty progressive–more so than most expected. I didn’t mention that because I was afraid any mention of Biden would be seen as off-topic.
Not all agree with this, but it’s a common enough sentiment.
And this is the other thing I left out: according to most people I talk to, progressivism is center left, at best. You don’t get into the actual left until you get into some level of socialism.
I was under the impression only conservatives consider progressivism to be the “far left.”
The relevance to this thread isn’t to debate these two claims, but to give reference for why Walz is considered a progressive VP pick. I’m sure there are some people who disagree, and I would welcome a thread debating either one.
I don’t know how meaningful that is considering modern conservatives label everyone to the left of Genghis Khan as “too woke” and they’re not that sure about him either.
“Yeah, did you know he never drank beer? What a snowflake!”
Waltz’s former players address him as “Coach Jones?”
You’re thinking of the basketball coach, known as “Basketball Jones”.
I do not get why this seems to be a “bad thing” in her view (or anyone here). What policies does he have that anyone objects to unless they are conservative?
