Kansas City Dopefest III - We Never Learn

I’m very attractive like that. You want that I should beam you up. I can, you know. Just call me “Captain”.

Two day sounds good. I’ve only been to the Nelson once, that would be cool. what should I bring this time for goodies?

I’m not sure, Baker, but I know I loved the delicious goodies that you’ve been kind enough to bring in the past. (You do realize, of course, that you’re more than welcome without the baked treats as well, right?)

At this point we’re still trying to decide what to do on Sunday. Any preference on your part?

You’re such a kiss up.

… if it gets me the opportunity to touch her pastries, I don’t see what your point is.

I say fell a large tree, tie Skip to the middle of it and have ourselves a good ol’ lumberjack log rolling contest. 'Cept we wear razor sharp ice skates instead of boots. That oughta get the blood flowing properly. Winner gets first pick of the sperfur’s private slut-sheep flock.

Should we plan the human sacrifices now, or wait until the new initiates show up and surprise them? And have we decided on clothes or no clothes?

I sure hope our favorite busty, long-legged weather girl has boned up on her meteorology. Last year’s skin-sizzling dopefest was barely countered with the Plaza’s legendary Fountain of Dog Urine And Wino Residue.

What sayeth thou? I mean, thee? Aw heck, what do you Doperth thinketh?

It will have to be something that travels easily. I love gushy things with whipped cream(real whipped cream, that is!), but keeping them cool would be a challenge. Small tarts, pecan or chocolate pecan? I like baklava too, and could bring it again. A good, firm cheesecake could be good, and I have a new recipe for Key Lime Squares that has a crushed gingersnap crust. Cookies for the kids.
Any ideas or requests? If we had a cookout I do a good sandwich bun.

Now, if only the Iowa Dopers can find transportaion that will make it there and back. without breaking down Maybe we’ll bring the conversion van. If only it did’nt take $80 to fill the gas tank!

And YES,** Sperfer**, the back seat does fold down into a bed
And YES, I do want to watch

I’ve got a camera

Ahh… dress casual.

Good! Then we can mail withaK pictures of the show he missed.

June 13th sounds good to me. The Plaza or Crown Center is better for me, but I bet I could get to Lawrence if I had to.

Ah, I suppose it is the weekend mid-June.

You guys will have more fun without me anyway.

Sadly, I won’t be able to make it this time … considering that I’ve moved to Cleveland and all.

My thoughts are with you, though. You’re all great!

Well, geez, Wikkit, I’m sorry you can’t make it this time. I was hoping that the 13th would be right before your plans hit. I’m sure, though, with the pace of Dopefests last year as an example, we’ll have another one before the year is out. Maybe we can convince sperfur to host one in Columbia again. (Assuming, that is, she’s not done now that she got a husband out of these things. ;))

And elmwood, I knew that you had moved; I’ve read your threads where you mention Cleveland, but none of that stopped me from orignally looking up your e-mail address to send out a notice, or keeping an eye out for you in this thread. But I’m glad that we were able to meet you the last time, and if you’re ever in KC, give auntie em and me a shout so that we can do dinner or drinks.

Yup - I’ll be happy to host another dopefest at my groovy 70’s pad.

One of the attractions this year will be watching Jasper walk on the treadmill. You can’t miss that.

June 12th
Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

On Saturdays they are open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m… I’m thinking around 12:00 or 1:00 so that we can all eat lunch beforehand. And we can do that either together or separately. Admission is free for the main collection; it costs to see the special exhibitions, but there doesn’t seem to be any special exhibitions showing in the middle part of June. To make up for that, sperfur will dance like a chimpanzee in the main gallery; in all of the other galleries, she will sing any New Kid on the Block song of her choice.

June 13th
Since no one has come up with a groovy place to eat, I say: PICNIC!

My thought is to hit Shawnee Mission Park, eat a bit and then “hike” on the trail. The trail is about 3 miles one-way, so it’d be another 3 miles back to the cars, or we could walk around the lake back to the cars, which shaves off one mile for an even 5.

This, of course, is not set in stone; we can eat elsewhere (like, for example, inside), and/or we don’t need to actually do anything physical. sperfur will still have to sing the day before–that doesn’t change.

Sounds like a plan. As for the Mazes and Magic thing at Crown Center, I went this weekend and it was lame. The Nelson is much cooler.

It all sounds good to me. Anything planned for the evening of the 12th? I need to know whether to get a room or not, or go back to Topeka in between.

Off topic: Horseflesh, if you see this, could you call either at home or at work. My email is totally screwed up.

Good question, Baker. Maybe dinner at night? We could do something region-specific like BBQ, or we could do something more ethnic like Manny’s.

A movie, possibly? Did you have anything in mind?

panics because she doesn’t know any New Kids on the Block songs

Can I sing Heywood Banks instead? I know a lot of his stuff.
So, since we’re doing a 2 dayer, who has ideas for Saturday night? Who wants to do something Saturday night?

Possibilites:
