Kansas City Dopefest III - We Never Learn

[QUOTE=sperfur]

Heh. I can think of better places to put shrimp than in my eyes. :smack:

Well, it’s definitely better than prawns in my anus. I’m just sayin’.

June 12th (before dark)
Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art - 12:00 p.m.

Lunch, beforehand, can be had at the Country Club Plaza. Admission is free for the main collection; it costs to see the special exhibitions, but there doesn’t seem to be any special exhibitions showing in the middle part of June. To make up for that, sperfur will dance like a chimpanzee in the main gallery; in all of the other galleries, she will sing any Heywood Banks song of her choice.

June 12th (after dark - but no Cinemax)
Dinner (and live music) at The River Market Brewing Company - 7:00 p.m.

June 13th
PICNIC! - 11:00 a.m.

My thought is to hit Shawnee Mission Park, eat a bit and then “hike” on the trail. The trail is about 3 miles one-way, so it’d be another 3 miles back to the cars, or we could walk around the lake back to the cars, which shaves off one mile for an even 5.

Sounds good. I’ll be splitting from the group at about 1pm 'til about 3 as I have a class. Luckily it’s right there at KCAI, so it should be pretty easy to make.

Where do you think the SDMBies will be at half-past three?

Better your anus than mine.

The plans sound great, Skipmagic.

Sounds like an excellent plan.

I’ll renew my earlier question. Any Dopers attending who want to be there both days and share a room? I don’t mind kids or crowding if you don’t. My goal is cheap.

On which day, Saturday or Sunday? (I think you mentioned it in an e-mail, but I’ve already forgotten. That’s what happens when male-pattern baldness hits: the sun burns holes in your head and you end up losing things when your brain sloshes through.)

Saturday… still at the museum?

My guess is we probably won’t be at the Nelson. Currently, we don’t have plans for the time between the museum and dinner that night, so I’m not sure what people will do after they leave the Nelson. What I’ll try to do is get a cell phone list for those who are interested; this way, in case someone is lost or behind, we can get them to wherever we are.

Did someone mention my favorite crustacean? I hereby challenge SkipMagic to a full contact shrimp eating contest. Bring your bib and auntie em as your second and let’s rock. Last one to grow extra legs and antennae and turn red in color wins.

Hopefully I can attend all the events. I owe sperfur big time for her support at ChiDope and I hope I can pay some of it back in KC.

I can be there for dinner, but not much else (work on saturday morning and a softball game on sunday afternoon).

Hey, have you been borrowing bras again? I tol’ you before: your man-boobies are perky enough, you don’t need any support.

As for the shrimp: you’re on. I won’t stop until I have tiny legs pouring out of my nose. (Different from the usual ones, I mean.)

You’re welcome to show for as much as you can. It’ll be great to see you at dinner, then!

By the way, for those of you who plan on coming to the dinner on Saturday night, please go ahead and send me an e-mail at:

skip at skipmagic dot net.

Be sure to give me the total number of you and your guest(s). All family is welcome if you want to bring your kids and don’t want to/can’t find a babysitter. Horseflesh promises to behave himself this year, and his house arrest ankle-device will help us track him if he acts up and escapes again. It’s all good.

I promised no such thing, my little shrimp basket. I’m off house arrest anyway, but they took away all my chainsaws and I’m not allowed within a thousand yards of Uma Thurman anymore.

So we are doing the museum thing or not? Or are we just trying to figure out what to do between the museum outing and chow? I’ve got all kinds of ideas, and most of them are legal. I probably won’t have the kids that day, but I’ll bring them along on Sunday. shannablu just informed me that she has to work both days but sends her best. That gives us one more person to rag on because they failed to meet their dopefest quota (along with the lovable Wikkit).

BTW, Skip, I haven’t worn a bra in years, but thanks to ChiDope I now know how to shave a man-boobie with precision. Care to test my newly acquired mad razor skillz?

Meh. You’ll behave or we’ll pull down your pants again and show everyone the stylish diapers you wear. (Mine are decorated with Transformers.)

The museum? Definitely! Between the museum and dinner that night nothing is planned, but if someone wants to suggest something, please go ahead.

As for lunch before the museum… I received an e-mail asking about that, so here goes: I was going to write about how the Plaza could get fairly pricey (with the exception of the corner McDonald’s), but I forgot about or recently-acquired California Pizza Kitchen. This place has sandwiches as well as veggie food, so if your diet is anti-meat, you don’t have to skip out on our lunch comraderie.

How about if we meet there for lunch? Maybe around 10:45 to 11:00?

In addition, if you’d like to come to lunch at the Pizza kitchen before we hit the Nelson, please send me an e-mail with the number of people in your party. My address is:

Or if that confuses you (:)), my e-mail is in my profile. I say that we meet at 10:45 in front of the pizza place (they don’t open until 11:00) to gather everyone up. All reservations (if either place takes any) will be under “Cecil Adams”. Seriously.

I’m sorry to say I can’t make this one. We’ll be attending my wife’s family reunion in Colorado. It will be fun, but I’LL MISS THE SHRIMP. I LOVE shrimp.

Oh yeah – it would have been nice to see all of you, as well. I’ll hope to make the next one. Thanks for the e-mail heads up, Skippy (see – he secretly loves me). Please do that next time, as I visit MPSIMS irregularly nowadays.

Save me a couple of (you know what’s) from the Newbie Initiation Ritual. And have fun, everyone.

What, no Gary T! Who is going to sing and play guitar for us?

Have fun at the reunion, we will miss you.

Yeah, yeah. Don’t rub it in.

I’m sorry, Gary T that you and Mrs. T won’t be able to join us. We hadn’t heard from you yet in this thread, so I was worried that my e-mail love hadn’t zapped its way into your inbox.

Poor sperfur.

SkipMagic, how goes the Doper count? I will be there both days, having decided to get a room overnight Saturday to Sunday.

Any idea who will be eating lunch before the museum? And at the museum, do we have a spot to congregate, coalesce, ooze together?

Not sure which motel I will be getting a room for. Horseflesh gave me a couple of links to one’s I hadn’t considered. There will be two to share the room so far, and Horsey may crash in the tub, if there are any other takers let me know ASAP.
