Kathie Lee Gifford: still making me puke

I just happened to catch Larry King on CNN, just in time to hear this exchange:

Larry King: “[Every] day is a gift.”
Kathie Lee Gifford: “That’s why it’s called the present.”

Where is that puking smilie when we need it?

I think that if I heard that in person, I would groan with such a force that my stomach would come out my mouth, inside out, like a starfish.

Hey!! Don’t talk shit about my GF!!

Seriously, not too fond of that particular joke but I do love that woman.

She’s the queen of breaking people down.

Kathy Lee is the personfication of a Hallmark card/ wholesome Midwestern values to a T!

KL’s half-Jewish by birth, born in Paris, and grew up mostly in Maryland. But she was Holy Joe enough to go to Oral Roberts U and be Anita Bryant’s personal assistant.

Happily she’s not the stuck-up churchy type anymore. I see her now and then on her Late Today slot and she is a real minx.

You say that like it’s a bad thing.

I think the bigger crime is that she’s cribbing her material from Kung Fu Panda!

Still on offer (as it has been since, er, 2002? when I made it).

There are few people that make me grab for the remote faster than when that obnoxious bitch appears on the screen.
I hated her back when she was with Regis and talking endlessly about her son Cody - Cody this and Cody that…I always envisioned the day would come when Cody would be arrested for selling his mother to a Columbian gang of dykes on bikes for a half gram of coke. And a jury would exonerate Cody for “just cause.”

I think her insincerity just oozes from the screen, and am just amazed that she thinks nobody notices. The fact that she is getting paid to do yet another show proves NBC is totally clueless.

As a born and bred Midwestern gal, still living here, I have to say… if it leads her to spewing out the pablum quoted in the OP, then yes it’s a bad thing!

Is she still married to her cheatin’ husband?

What Dmark said, in spades.

The insincerity makes my skin crawl, yuck!

That very line appears in the movie Kung Fu Panda. I believe the wise old turtle says something like, “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.”

Damn you, I came in here to mention that. I thought it was pretty clever at the time; but then, I suppose anything can sound clever and insightful coming from a wizened kung fu master turtle.

It came off well in Kung Fu Panda, but it’s a lot older than that.

Back when she was Regis’ co-host, I remember a poll in which she was voted “the most repulsive person on TV.”

But she does get skewered for it on The Soup regularly so it’s worth it.

I’m ashamed to say I remember her daughter’s name is Cassidy. Cody and Cassidy, bleah.

That gal on SNL that parodies her is spot-on. The stupid comments and mugging for the camera. Blech.

Ahhhkkkk!!
I TAKE IT BACK!! I TAKE IT BACK!!

I had her confused with Kathy Griffin!!

Thank god–I was questioning your sanity. I loathe Kathy Lee. She’s up there with Ms Perky Couric in my book of Nauseating Females on TV. I will say that Ms Gifford seems more self-absorbed than Ms Couric. I don’t watch her at all, but every now and then she obtrudes on my conscious mind–kind of like an ear worm that just will not quit. Ugh.
