Kathy Reichs is on 'Bones' tonight! David Duchovny directs!

Okay, fans, she’s on at the beginning, playing a PhD advisor (big stretch  ). Also on it is Ryan O’Neal and it’s directed by David-Freakin’-Duchovny.

For you non-fans, the show has developed since you dismissed it back when it started and is now one of the best blood ‘n’ guts shows on. The character development has been especially good.

I really, really hope she sees the Magic Machine of Rendering and just points and laughs.
(And yet, I still like the show.)

Yeah, I hear ya. I hate that thing- it’s the weakest aspect of the show, in my opinion. I wish they’d just pretend it never existed.

DB is acting the same way he did as Angel, but it actually works very well with Angel channeled as Agent Booth and playing against Dr Brennan (He’s doing it more like he acted with Spike, not the way he interacted with the Buffster). It’s not epic tv, but it’s a mindless fun way to kill an hour, much like NCIS.

Agreed. This and NCIS are basically the same thing - “more crime shows”, but marginally better dialogue and much better character development/interaction than most of the other CSI clones, and just generally not-serious and fun to watch.

Oh, and they both involve at least one absolutely HOT actress

Three, actually, and Emily Deschanel is third.

Yeah, that thing is pretty [del]embarassing[/del] far fetched [sing-song voice] but “Bones” is a TV show, not a documentary [/sing-song voice] and I think of the MMR as wishful thinking, like “wouldn’t it be cool if…”.

Now if they could only get DeForrest Kelley to make a guest appearance…

That WOULD be quite a feat.

(DeForest Kelley died of stomach cancer in 1999.)

IYO, which is better – Bones or Crossing Jordan?

Remember that this is a show about a forensic anthropologist.

Do the math.

Well, that was…

Um…

That is…

Gorram that episode sucked big brass donkey balls!

It was the most incoherent piece of manipulative formulaic claptrap I’ve seen in years. How they managed to be both incomprehensible AND predictable in one episode is totally and utterly beyond me. It was more than half way over before we figured out what the hell was going on, and even then we didn’t care.

Good things: I like the lawyer chick and hope to see more of her. There were some new and interesting camera angles. There was no sign of the Magic Machine of Rendering.

Bad things: everything else.

Yeah, of course. I mourned heavily on that day.

Shouldn’t stop them, though.

I still call him Angel. I can’t help it. I’m a recent convert to the show, and a couple weeks ago, there was an episode where he not only entered a church, he crossed himself! I laughed for about five minutes, it amused me so much.

And that’s why I love it. Who cares if it makes sense, it’s just fun.

I never watched “Crossing Jordan.” Jill Hennessy is hot, in a “very successful transgender operation” sorta way, and I like Miguel Ferrer but it had that guy from “Sliders” as the romantic lead and he always creeped me out.

I didn’t find it incomprehensible and it was less formulaic than pretty much anything else I’ve seen lately. Were you familiar with the backstory?

I thought that when she was first on the New Orleans ep they reran after the new one. I’m glad she got transferred to DC, though I don’t suppose she’s all that pleased.

Okay, so I dissed the show pretty badly last season, but I think it started out really slowly. I’ve stuck with it because, frankly, there’s nothing running opposite it. S2 is much improved.

I like how Booth and Bones haven’t gotten together yet, though it bugs me that he still calls her Bones. It’s not an attractive nickname.

I’m glad that they’ve downplayed the Superwoman act this season. Tempy taking down big, bad guys with her taekwondo skills was getting a bit much.

I like the attorney from New Orleans, too, though I worried that they’d kill her off when they showed her in that Pinto.

Ryan O’Neal looks good for an old fart. Of course, we all knew he was her father all along.

Speaking of looking good, ED’s skin is absolutely radiant. She was too skinny in S1, IMO, and needed to gain a few pounds.

I liked Jonathon Adams voice as Tempe’s boss so much that when he was replaced by Tamara Taylor as Cam I griped but–day-am!–ain’t she hypnotic? No, I don’t mean because she’s exotically babe-a-licious. I mean her acting chops. She could completely steal this show.

Familiar as in I’ve *seen *all the episodes, but to be honest I let a lot of the details sail right by and savor the view, ifyouknowwotImean. (Doesn’t help that we DVR it and watch it right before bedtime, so I’m always exhausted and sometimes actually drift off a little.) I did remember that Tempe’s family abandoned her to go into hiding, and they were bad guys, but what I found ill laid out was the whole conspiracy storyline with the FBI. It just went too fast, with too much exposition and not enough showing.

That’s right…I had forgotten she was in that one. Yes, I definitely like her.

I pay close attention so I can complain about technical problems. The MMR and the well-lit specimen cases (versus Fellowes boxes on a steel rack) were the first things I complained about.
