Silly female starlets pass right under my radar, I guess. Until they do something noteworthy, and by that I mean professionally, not what Miss Katie has found herself doing!
Yeah, she’s been in a number of movies I really enjoyed. The Ice Storm, in which she had a smallish part, is one of my favorite movies, and I really enjoyed Wonder Boys and Pieces of April as well. Go wasn’t bad either. From IMDB I see she’s been in Thank You For Smoking which I haven’t seen yet but want to, and *Batman Begins. She’s not the hottest thing in the business, but her career’s been quite successful so far and given the calibre of most of her movie roles, it seems like she would have had a great shot at a really good career. And aside from EJsGirl she had pretty solid name recognition.
I doubt it. The guy is so obviously a trainwreck, and everything they’ve told the press (Tom is no shrinking violet when it comes to media coverage) makes their relationship seem weirder. I just feel really sad about this whole thing, since Katie Holmes really struck me as someone to watch for the future, and this cannot help her ultimately. No one believes this relationship is real (which means that, as far as publicity is concerned, it doesn’t matter if it really is) and I can’t imagine people will care about Tom Cruise for that much longer. He’s gotten a ton of press lately for being completely nuts, but that kind of thing doesn’t last forever, and she doesn’t want her career tied to “is the poor pseudo-wife of a nutcase cult-member”. It’s not going to help her in the long run, is my feeling. I really hope she gets away from that man sometime soon.
Apparently you’re not terribly observant. She’s done a number of very good movies; I’m not sure what kind of “movie geek” you could be if you’re not aware of such a well-known actress.
