Despite being legal in the US, there’s not as much information as I wish about these so I figured I’d start a thread.
I’ve found kratom to be both calming and focus-enhancing which is a rare combination of traits. I haven’t found much of a difference between colors and strains though. Have you found significant differences?
I’ve never had kava. What are its effects? Are there different kinds of kava?
Some strains make me want to puke a little. Other strains make me want to puke a lot.
I would say it’s similar to what you said before, both calming but also focus-enhancing. Also, it makes your mouth numb. There are different preparations (e.g., ground into powder, liquid extract) but I only just started drinking it two days ago so I’m not sure how they differ.
Kratom and nausea: It may help to have something in your stomach already. I usually dissolve it in soy chocolate milk which does a great job of masking the taste.
What’s a typical dose of kava?
I realize the following will differ from one person to another, I’m only looking for data points: What’s the minimum dose before you feel something? What’s the upper range beyond which the side effects get unpleasant?
There are a handful of incredible recreational drugs readily available in North America. Unlike this kraka krampdom your contemplating, they are not legal. Just an observation.
Does anyone have experience getting only psychological withdrawal symptoms and no physical withdrawal? Reading the list of symptoms, I’m not getting any of the physical withdrawal symptoms and the only possible psychological symptoms I may have are ambiguous like depressed mood or anxiety which I had before I started taking kratom.
I was taking kratom regularly for about 2 months and I definitely experienced psychological withdrawal when I stopped. When I was taking it it really gave me energy -not caffeine like energy, but what felt like “real” energy - and motivation and just really elevated my mood and when I stopped I was really bummed out. I recognized what was happening to me and that’s what made me stop. That and all the reports about possible liver damage.
Never used kratom and don’t intend to - my friends and acquaintances throughout Southeast Asia are generally pretty negative on it.
I am mildly fond of kava though. As a former resident of Pohnpei (where a particularly strong version known as sakau is everywhere), I’ve known about it for decades. Vinyl Turnip has the experience exactly right, but since I associate the taste with happy times on a tropical island in the Pacific back when I was young, I like it anyway. I think it has mild sedative effects, so sometimes I drink it when I’d rather not consume alcohol and I’d like to wind down. It may or may not help me sleep, but if it just has a mild placebo effect, that’s fine by me.
It’s hard to say. I’d usually take it when I got home from work but chose not to take it if I was doing something else like going out to eat or have drinks or whatever. So basically as soon as I *wanted *some but it was unavailable. When I stopped for good, I was in kind of a funk for about four days.
That is a good description (I hear) My cousin’s X boyfriend takes it each and every morning. Takes it with his morning yogurt. He says that he can work better that way but there are way too many negatives for him to take it. He loses his temper extremely too fast. I think this crap makes everything in the person taking it change exponentially faster. After that wears off he starts on the weed. Its like bi-polarization!
Addictive personalities should never try it, to say the least.
I’m not good at description at all but that guy is the last person you want to cross paths with. Fucked up.:mad:
