Keane: Lost Asset Finders. Anyone know 'em?

Lady Chance got a call from someone at a firm called ‘Keane’. They specialize is finding misplaced assets for a fee. They said there’s a significant asset out there from her (deceased) father and that they’d help us retreive it for a percentage.

Anyone ever hear of these guys? Are they legit? Or is it trolling scammers?

I’m the one that untangled her dad’s assets after he died. It was a mess and I certainly could have missed one in the foofahrah, God knows.

IIRC, nearly every state’s department of Commerce has an unclaimed property web page. (The linked page is my home state’s). You can claim the property without giving up a percentage.

Thank Keane for giving you the hint that the money is out there, and spend some time on the web finding the assets!

What the Nurse said. Keane charges a commission of somethinglike 30-40% of the asset. Well, you’d have nothing if they hadn’t found it in the first place, right? They’ll tell you what the actual amount of the commission is and you can work backward to estimate the actual value of the asset. Then hit the department sites for every state Dad has ever lived in.

We found a STACK of cash for my father in law this way. When Keane leaves you alone, then you know you got the asset they were dangling in front of you.

Checked Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, Illinois, California and Texas.

Nothing.

This is going to bug me.

Could it possibly be under some other name?
RE: Keane, there are many such companies but you don’t need them. I claimed dough on my own. Good thing one of the Keane-clones wrote to me, though, or I might never have known it.

I’m unaware of any nom-de-guerre he used. I’m searching under his last name and looking for leading initials from both his first and middle names. He used both depending on circumstances. The army did it to him.
