Kegels = pain? (TMI Warning)

Greetings!

I have a couple of dumb questions about something dumb I did:

About a week and a half ago, I was sitting in an intolerably boring meeting at work, and for some reason, I started doing Kegels. They’re supposed to be good for you, right? Anyway, I must have done like a hundred of them. Later, though, I felt pain in my tailbone (that’s what it feels like, anyway). It’s still hurting, and I’m getting alarmed. Did I eff up my prostate or something? Has anyone had this experience before? BTW, I’m a healthy man with no other conditions, etc.

Thanks for not laughing…:o

In the situation you describe, the most likely reason for the pain is simple muscle strain. It would be nearly impossible to screw up one’s own plumbing significantly by doing such a maneuver as you describe.

Of course, there is no substitute for a thorough digital rectal exam with prostate palpation by a practitioner to ensure there is not another cause for the symptoms.

If what Qadgop says is true then I recommend a long hot bath and if youre still worrying about the pain, get some oral sex. Tell her its a scientific experiment for medical research. :smiley:

Thanks so much, Qagdop, I’ve got a Dr. appt. in a couple of weeks, so I’ll inquire then. Looking forward to the digi-rectal thing :rolleyes: .

Oh, and ** X~Slayer(ALE) **, haven’t tried the long hot bath thing, but…:eek: :smiley: :eek: :smiley: :eek: :smiley:

I once got a pain in my tailbone area that a chiropractor successfully adjusted. I tend to squirm when I’m sitting, perhaps subjecting my lower back to weird stresses. Maybe Kegels just pinched a nerve. IANAD and IANAC.

I’m a little surprised that nobody linked to that daffy site about Anal Clenching For Perfect Health And Harmony. Maybe I can exhume it.

Qadgop, you sure you aren’t getting too into the prison doc role? :smiley: cue image of Qadgop putting on an elbow-length glove, opening a jar of vaseline, and mumbling “you might feel a little pressure…”

Frankly FDISK, I did at least as many prostate checks back in private practice. Between the need for screening for colon cancer and doing tons of male physicals on guys over 40, and all the hemorrhoid/rectal bleeding complaints in the general population due to lack of fiber in the diet, I think I may actually do fewer rectal exams now in my current situation.

And it’s ok that I’m happy about that! :smiley:

I’m also pretty freaking happy I hardly ever do gynecologic exams anymore! We are a co-ed prison, but my female nurse practitioners do most of the female exams.
