Well, last time I was tested, mine was 165. And I am not very smart…I mean, I am smart about things (I think), but I am not SMART.
SHOW me a thing, I will usually get it. TELL me a thing, I will not necessarily GET it. If I READ something, I will either GET it or be able to figure it out.
I just realized…I am smart, but my EARS aren’t. Wow…an epiphany!

See, Scotti, you just managed to bring this whole discussion full circle. You provided a good example of why homeschooling can be a good option. Different people have different learning styles. You are a visual learner. Some people do better hearing things. Good teachers teach things in ways that reach people with different learning styles.
For example, if you were learning cell structure in biology class, you might read about it in the text and the teacher would explain it and draw a diagram on the board and you might do a project where you’d cut the parts of the cell out of construction paper and glue it together properly. That last part may seem frivolous, but some people learn best by doing. Ideally, teachers can reach most of the different types of learners most of the time.
But if the teachers do not do this and/or your kid is very oriented toward one particular learning style, then public school may not be the best option.
But enough of this unproductive hijack. I’ve read about how a bong works, and seen it used, and had the process explained to me, but I learn best by doing. Would someone please pass it over?
