Dammit, BobLibDem! You should have put that in a spoiler box. We all know that eventually he’d lose, but you didn’t have to reveal the number.
I also am one who loves Trivial Pursuit, but can’t get people to play with me more than once.
I like to see Ken keep winning. He’s my hero, quick on that button and more often than not, wins in runaways.
I would sure hate to be the person that beats him. It would be like being the pitcher who struck out Babe Ruth. There’s a bittersweet taste to the victory.
OK, I’ve put spoilers around BobLibDem’s comments. I don’t have time to read through the other posts carefully to see about spoilers, and it will be old news someday, so I’ve also added the “Spoilers” warning to the thread title.
My sincere apologies for spoiling the number. If it’s any consolation, I don’t know if it’s exactly X or approximately X.
I can’t be the only one who watched Ken’s return today after the Tournament of Champions. For the first time I can remember, Ken did NOT have a runaway lead going into FJ! It was something like $19K to $14K (the third contestant had dropped out). Did you see him before Alex told him he was right? Like a deer in the headlights! He was obviously quite worried. He’s clearly losing his touch.
He seems to be slipping a bit, which I find very painful to watch. The world would seem akilter if Ken lost.
I’m glad tonight was a runaway. I hope he gets his game back!
(I got Dickinson/Whitman right. Hee hee hee…)
Just so you all know, in some markets, specifically where Jeopardy! airs on West Coast ABC affilliates, the aired episodes lag by one day due to preemption by Monday Night Football.
And then there’s the debates. So we watched the Monday 10/4 show last night at 10pm here in Los Angeles.
So, please! No unboxed spoilers until 7:30 Pacific Time the day after!
I realized this one November when I was sent to Las Vegas on a business trip, and watched Jeopardy! in the hotel bar every day, Monday to Wednesday. I get home Thursday in time for Jeopardy! and begin answering questions while I put clothes away… and I get them all correct, one after another… amazing myself at my unusual string of correct answers… then on the first Daily Double I realize, “I saw this game yesterday… Duh!” So I checked the lsitings and learned that no, there is no Jeopardy! on KABC on Mondays during football season.
It didn’t appear as if he was slipping. His opponent just appeared smarter than most, and faster with the button.
And I rather dislike watching Ken run the games. They’re far less interesting when dominated by one player. Last night’s (Monday’s for the rest of you) was the first Ken Jennings!… err, excuse me, Jeopardy!… episode that I found interesting since the streak began.
Yeah, one of Ken’s main advantages has been his quick buzzer’ing and this guy was a rare match to him. To bad he was so clueless on American literature, Final Jeopardy was a bit of letdown. Oh well. The poor lady on the end couldn’t buzz in to save her life. How frustrating that must have been! It was an excellent restart of Ken’s run, however I suspect he’ll have at least 10 runaways in row before he gets challenged again…
Sorry; it’s on here at 6:30 CST and I watched my tape of it around 9 pm. Thought I was safe!
