Kevin Greene (former NFL linebacker) dies at 58

Hall of Famer Kevin Greene, who had a fifteen-year career in the NFL as a linebacker, with the Rams, Steelers, 49ers, and Panthers, died today at age 58. No cause of death was immediately released.

Greene had 160 sacks in his career, and ranks #3 on the all-time sack list, trailing only Reggie White and Bruce Smith. After his playing career, he was a linebacker coach for the Packers and Jets, and got a Super Bowl ring with the Packers.

IN NFL, SUPPLEMENTS COMPLEMENT - The Washington Post

“I have found a good mixture of stuff,” Greene, a blond, Hulk Hogan lookalike, said with tough-guy confidence. “Fat burners. … Amino acids three or four times a day. … Four liver tablets a day. … High-protein drinks. … A natural, organic substance before the game to try to get, you know, the juices flowing.”

Greene paused and fixed his interviewer with an icy stare. “I suppose you want me to tell you everything I’m using, right?” he said. “Well, I’m not going to do it. For me to be the best, I’ve got to keep some stuff secret, okay?”

Cause of death? Covid?

i wonder if the effects his tenure in “world championship wrestling” aka WCW had anything to do with it

Nothing released so far. Covid is always a possibility, but given his age, the sport he played, and the fact that he was a hard-hitting pass rusher (as well as a pro wrestler), I think I would not be surprised if it was CTE-related.
