Keyboard error

I recently moved and for some reason, my PC no longer works well. I moved it in my car and replugged everything the way I normally do.

The system tells me “keyboard error” and nothing I’ve done so far will help. I’ve replugged each item - in various order, but nothing so far helps.

The keyboard lights flash briefly once at startup - then nothing.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Any chance it is an older PC and you swapped the keyboard and mouse connections?

Are you sure you haven’t plugged the keyboard and mouse into each others’ sockets? This will cause some machines to halt on boot.

If it isn’t that, try picking the keyboard up and dropping it (just a couple of inches) onto the desk - in case a key got jammed down in transit.

And if it isn’t that, you might also want to take a look at the pins inside the keyboard connector - check that one of them hasn’t got bent or damaged.

Is it a USB keyboard? If so, try disconnecting all other USB devices.

failing those, borrow a known good keyboard from someone and try it.

Thanks everyone. I’ll try all of these tonight.
