I prefer khakis (pockets in front over the regular pockets, commonly available as shorts) to cargo pants (pockets on sides down near the knees) because I don’t like having things in the pockets moving around a lot when I’m walking like they do with pockets near the knee joints. Can someone point me to some men’s khakis with pant legs that are available online? My search terms bring up flat-front dress pants with “khaki” color selection.
In the US khakis are virtually synonymous with “chinos”, which are (often khaki colored) casual pants made out of a twill material named chino. It’s actually more common to see them called khakis than chinos now but both named describe the same pants more or less. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Banana Republic sell grey or navy “khakis” for instance, in spite of the obvious apparent contradition.
The point is, they’re not dress pants, they’re casual pants and you’re getting results in line with the type of pants you’d expect to get when googling khakis.
Maybe if you describe what you want better we can help you figure out what it’s really called.
I want khaki shorts, with the cargo pockets over the regular pockets, commonly available as shorts, everybody wears them during the summer, but I want them with pant legs. I don’t want khakis which are flat-front dress pants with “khaki” color selection.
I have never seen shorts with the “cargo pockets over the regular pockets.” Do you mean the pouch pockets are higher on the pants legs than the slit pockets, or that the pouch pockets are actually superimposed over the slit pockets?
I searched “khaki shorts” and these look kind of like my khaki shorts or “cargo shorts”. You can see the cargo pockets are not down near the knees since they’re shorts. I want pants but with the cargo pockets up near the regular pockets, not on the sides near the knees.
Old Navy has these. One patch pocket on the side, no knee pocket.
LL Bean, Land’s End, and Eddie Bauer might also be places to look if you haven’t already.
I had a high opinion of this brand when I worked cargo in 40 below.
Dickies work pants. Available lot’s of places. Good sturdy pants, normal pockets.
Okay, here’s the khaki cargo shorts I’m referring to, but I want cargo pants like this for the fall/winter season. I don’t like my legs going jingle-jangle when I’m walking, and regular cargo pants feel like you’re walking around with sandbags at your knees.
Buy those shorts, then dye the rest of your legs the same colour.
how about getting a shorts/pants hybrid?
Cabelas
I wear those shorts all the time, during the summer, but now that fall is arriving, I’m wearing some fucking cargo pants today. The dye would possibly work except my legs would be cold.
EMS sells convertible cargo pants that can be both full length & shorts.
