Kid screams nonstop for 8-hour flight

There are few times where spanking a kid is warranted, but this is one of them. I haven’t watched the video, but I can’t believe that some didn’t tell her to shut her f’ing brat the f@ck up.

Seriously, people, you need to watch (and listen to) the video before commenting. The sound coming out of that child is beyond belief, and he started it before the plane took off.

If the parents knew he would behave like this (or even suspected, based on past behaviour), they needed to take some measures to keep it from happening for EIGHT SOLID HOURS!!! The level of cluelessness? selfishness? arrogance? it takes to do that to a planeful of strangers is astounding.

I tried to find more details in press reports. Most just seem to talk about the video but this article from The Daily Mail (yes, I know) says the child had an unspecified “disability” and the misbehavior started before the plane took off. I’m not sure why Lufthansa didn’t remove the family, even if that required the plane to return to the gate.

Where is the rum?

And there is the problem. The attendant needed to tell the mother that the kid needs to sit down and not disturb the other passengers for the duration of the flight.

The kid is obviously adhd or one of them lettered disorders. The Mom is to blame here. If she had a dog acting stupid in public she would be called to task. Isn’t the child as least as important as a dog? Inexcusable.

And the family was American, so they probably experienced this or something like this on the trip to Germany. They should’ve anticipated his behaviour.

StG

Cranky old person voice: My parents didn’t take us on any flights until they were sure we would behave properly. But that was back when flying was a big deal and you actually wore your Sunday best for the flight.

I have ADHD, and I NEVER once acted like that as a kid. I’m guessing autism here. Even so, if he’s that out of control that he isn’t capable of sitting down quietly, she shouldn’t have taken him on the plane. That was fucking ridiculous. Just because someone has a disability like that does NOT entitle them to inflict it on others.

Seriously, not only was that annoying, but he was pushing and shoving, and climbing over things – he could’ve gotten hurt, or hurt someone else. WTF?

(I don’t mind crying babies in public – they can’t help it, and I feel bad for the poor things. This kid was what, six? Jesus Christ)

The consolation prize for everyone on that flight is that they were eventually off it and didn’t have to go home with the child. I don’t know what to make of it. I always medicate before flying because of ear pain, but as another poster pointed out, the behavior started prior to the flight. I also cannot believe he didn’t just pass out. Did mom have ear buds because I really don’t understand her behavior?

This is how it should be. My parents and yours must have been very similar. I was spanked only twice as a child, and I deserved it richly both times.

My dad used reverse psychololy. When I was four(I don’t actually remember this, but what I was told) I was misbehaving during my first time in Sunday School. My dad took me out and told me I didn’t have to go. In fact, he wouldn’t LET me go, and therefore I wouldn’t be getting the goodies the kids got after the Xmas program, and at other times. After that I wanted to go.

I skipped to the end. Kid still screaming as he leaves the plane. It gets fainter and fainter as they get farther away.

I see absolutely no indication that the child is in pain. The kid is aimlessly wandering around causing as much noise as possible.

Textbook example of what happens when children aren’t disciplined and taught acceptable behavior at a young age.

Just imagine that kid in 12 years. The adult version will be much worse.

Inexplicable and inexcusable. Maybe they could’ve locked mom and kid into one of the lavatories for the duration? Wouldn’t bother me if the kid were bound and gagged.

How old do you think the kid is? 3 or 4? I’m shocked the attendants let the kid stand on the seats (or his mother), and run the aisles like that. Did the attendants say/do anything? If this was done by a drunken (or sober) adult, I could imagine the plane being turned around.

Sorry, if you can’t control your beasts better than this, you should not be allowed on public conveyances.

I wonder why the film quality is so bad. What kept the filmer from taking better images. And why are you unable to hear anyone say anything to/about the kid?

And why is the suggestion that media addiction had a role? The mom was asking about the wifi, but then the behavior continued throughout the flight.

And there could also be a downside.

Fair point. I mean, there is a cargo hold.

No Guin, I wasn’t disparaging people with this disorder. But children with that or on the spectrum need special handling. And of course everyone is different. My daughters oldest child (3) has just been diagnosed. He is definately hard to control. She spends alot of time working with him. And teaching him correct behaviours. It is a hard road for parents, this Mom isn’t doing her homework.
Then again he may have been on a sugar high. SOMETHING was wrong. That is easy to see.

Nah, can’t be arsed. Thanks ever so much for the suggestion though.

Somebody needs to show that lady how to load movies directly on an iPad. If “he needs his tablet” is the answer to all that kid’s problems, you can’t rely on WiFi being available. Or else there will be problems.

Watched it. The kid isn’t that young. The FA’s should have demanded that he be strapped into his seat for one thing. FA’s do have authority, quite a bit actually. The kid is ferrell.

I’d watch that movie.
