As I understood it, the OP was upset with a very young boy (age 5) allegedly killing a black bear from a blind with the probable assistance of the boy’s grandfather. The bear was apparently taken as a trophy, not for the meat, making it a wanton killing. A thrill kill, if you will, no hunting or tracking and taking the animal down as cleanly as possible skills. Much of the crowing over the boy’s accomplishment was reflected in the references made to the boy’s distant relationship with Davy Crockett.
Ah, I wasn’t sure whether it was the actual killing that upset the OP or the publicity of the killing or the specific language of the news coverage.
