Why don’t you ask the piece of shit who said it’s just ducky to kill a thousand of them a year?
BTW, you’re innocent too, don’t forget. And your kids, and your mom. Regardless of what definition you decide to use.
That person can answer the question.
I believe in rehabilitation, but sexual predators have a sickness for which there seems to be no cure. They are beasts that need to be behind bars because, when released, the same urges drive them to commit the same crimes.
True. The guy that held the girl captive is straight out of the ‘Criminal Minds’ stereotype handbook. He should be locked up forever. There is no rehabilitation. There is only a lobotomy.
But the people that deserve our ire are the idiot judges and gutless prosecutors.
“There was only one victim?!?!?!?” I should be able to beat the judge senseless, then claim I should get probation because I only beat senseless one victim, and as such am unlikely to beat another.
So, that whole “innocent until proven” stuff can be set aside if the subject’s character and actions are largely suspect? And if said subject’s future behavior might well endanger many of our citizens?
Might have to ponder that one. Can clearly see some advantage in the short term.
Not sure what you mean here. These guys confessed. They pled guilty and are convicted. They found the girl locked in his house.
Or were you replying to someone else?
Perhaps you should read this article about sex-crime recidivism. It turns out not to be as high as you(and so many others) presume it to be.
Comparing the individuals that committed these crimes to bacteria is an insult to innocent microbial organism. Some people are just broken and society needs to isolate them to protect the rest of us.
Is it me, or does that link treat all ‘sex offenders’ the same, as if one sex offense were the same as another? The 20 year old guy that boozes up a 16 year old, the 40 year old guy that boozes up a 16 year old, guy that flashes his junk, the guy that date rapes in a drunken state, the guy that stalks someone for weeks and breaks into her house to rape her, the guy that likes to hire hookers and beat the snot out of them, the guy that keeps his victim locked in cage for a year… all ‘sex crimes’?
The guy that rapes them and then strangles them. Is this considered a sex crime, in the sense that the link is talking about? Or it that categorized differently?
Sure if you find a girl caged in my yard and filled with my semen and I and convicted of the crime. I’m down with getting shot. I’m not proposing short circuiting the justice system at least through the first trial and I could even be talked into a single appeal but I can also state that I’m not going to be the guy arrested holding the gun that killed 12 and wounded 58 others.
Perhaps we should start with those who think offering a handshake is the same as rape?
So why should state sanctioned rape and violence be reserved for the convicted? You ain’t making any sense.
That may be. But the state shouldn’t be in the torture business.
Are you saying the state should be able to rape and commit violent acts against anyone??
No. That’s what you and others in this thread are implying. I’m the one advocating against state sanctioned prison violence.
Jezus H. Christ, I’m actually going to Godwinize this trainwreck. I’m now convinced that if Adolf Hitler’s clone were to run today on some his original’s programs, he’d actually get a non-trivial amount of votes. Also, some of you fuckwits have no idea of the privilege you have of living in a society where by law the rights of the accused include presumption of innocence, due process and the idea that letting guilty go free is less abhorrent than punishing the innocent. Remember, when you start giving up some other guy’s rights, you are giving up yours. And they are a lot harder to win than relinquish. There’s a lot of reasons why in most of history (bar at most a few hundred years), rights were what you could force by arms, or what for very few came with their station of birth. Don’t even fucking joke about giving any of them up.
And of course calling for extrajudicial puishment, including bodily mutilation, is still inherently repugnant.
Let me put it this way: there is a nonzero chance you could wind up in prison someday. Maybe a false conviction. Or maybe you do something bad. Do you really want the state to sit back and allow you to be killed by your fellow inmates?
It’d be one thing if you’d said in the OP but then said you were just angry and exaggerating. It’s another that you’re putting in effort to try and defend it as legitimate. Hell, you even had the argument of “should” meaning “that’s what they deserve, but obviously I don’t want that to actually happen.”
I think that all people who approve of rape and murder should be put in prison. They’ll find lots of people who agree with them there.
Ok, stupid, let’s try this again.
Are you OK with being one of the 1,000 innocent people executed each year by the government? The 1,000 innocent people you were comfortable having executed so you could get 10,000 executions of guilty criminals.
Innocent.
For the slow among us (you), it means you didn’t do the thing you are being executed for doing.
There’s (allegedly) no girl chained up in your basement, she’s not filled with your semen and you weren’t caught on camera snatching from a Walmart parking lot. You got incorrectly identified as a murderer or rapist, went to trial, got convicted and sentenced to death.
Since our system has ratcheted up the rate of executions to sate your bloodlust, your innocence was part of the 10% that didn’t get uncovered (which you are supposedly comfortable with) and you’re sent to the gallows.
Are you OK with that?
About sixteen years ago, I posted this thread. The trend is still disturbing.
The President of the United States is a rapist. He has raped multiple women and he has admitted to it on camera. You will never achieve justice for rape victims when half the nation knowingly votes to put an admitted rapist in the highest office in the land. Rapists don’t get killed in America, they get rewarded. But if you want to change that you should plead your case to Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas. I’m sure they’ll understand.
