kindle covers

I got a kindle for christmas (yea!) But no cover. I have been researching a bit, but thought I would ask the teeming millions for their opinion before I made my purchase. I am currently looking at the M Edge Go and Prodigy as the two best options. I would also like to get a skin to put on the kindle for extra protection. Do any of you kindle owners have any experience with either of these? any special recommendations? what about screen protectors, are they a good purchase? thanks in advance for your opinions!

I got my husband the M-edge leather cover for xmas. He has the original Kindle, though. It’s very well made, nice thick leather. It has a loop where you can store a pen, and little pockets on the inside as well. It fits a lot more snugly than the original kindle cover, too. You probably don’t need a screen protector–he’s dropped his a zillion times and the only problem is the back doesn’t want to stay fastened. The screen’s always been fine. I got a screen protector on ebay for next to nothing for my car’s gps, so you might want to check there.

All of these things. Including the fact that I got it for my husband for Christmas (the Kindle was a birthday present).

I use it too, and really like the leather cover. It’s sturdy and well made, and the cover alone is plenty to protect the screen. It feels more like a real book with the cover, but the cover will stay open flat on a table, you don’t have to hold it open like a regular book. However, I do find myself sticking my finger in it to hold my place if I carry it from room to room, now that it feels more like a book

I used the regular leather cover that comes with the Kindle for a year. I had glued a little square of velcro to the back to hold it in place because the small corner holders weren’t very secure. I have the Kindle I.

Then, the elastic strap started to stretch out a bit. That was all the excuse I needed to go looking for another Kindle cover. I found a beauty. It’s a Piel Frama tan leather (like buttah!) purchased on Amazon for $79.00. The Kindle slides into a pocket that opens on the spine, with cut-out areas for the screen, keyboard and switches. Like the best toilet tissue, it’s soft but strong. Secure.

A little Christmas treat for mama.

Thanks for the responses! I bought an M-Edge prodigy with booklight. I’ll be back to post a review after I have time to try it out a little.

The prettiest covers are made by Oberon Design (www.oberondesign.com). They are a little pricey, but worth it.
