The telefilm of Rupert Goold’s blank verse play about the accession of the new king and the constitutional crisis he immediately causes is airing on PBS Masterpiece tonight (it premiered Wednesday night in the UK on BBC Two).
Very entertaining. Of course it’s widely implausible & unrealistic, but it works great as a modern Shakespearian play.
Fascinating bit of speculation. The blank verse gave it a real Shakespearian tone, though I wonder how Kate may feel being cast as Lady Macbeth.
I just caught a re-run on PBS. And yes, very entertaining. On many levels – the story, the verses, the non-verbal acting.
Well, hopelessly dated with relation to current events. However, its years too late to be useful here on the SDMB to address the many …“But what if the monarch of England does …” threads. Pretty cool when he strides on in, tho.
