"King of the Hill" Question

They had a revelation episode, it’s the one where Peggy finds out, and everybody is surprised that she didn’t know already.

For a long time I thought Joseph was one of Kahn’s kids, heh. Unfortunately I knew the truth before the episode where he makes out with Kahn’s daughter, that would have been a shocker.

Ummm… neither one of those were specifically revealed AFAIR, they’re running jokes throughout the show (well, the affair doesn’t go on anymore). Have you only been watching the newest episodes or something? If you’re watching the earlier epsisodes, you’ve got to be as oblivious as Dale to miss it for long. All of the ‘I have a headache, send for John Redcorn’ bits and Joseph’s skin color, general appearance, and multiple episodes where Dale and Hank talk about how different their kids are from them and Hank keeps rolling his eyes…

I think another big theme is that Bobby is almost completely different from Hank and Hank’s always trying to figure out what to do about it. Everyone ends up with kids who they say ‘He likes WHAT? Is he really my son?’ about, Bobby is like he is to make it really easy to joke off of. I know my parents often got confused by me as a kid…

[Dale Gribble] That went right over your head, like one of the black helicopters the shadow government uses to spread chemtrails that mix with yer vaccinations and turn you into a soldier in their mole man army. (sound of siren) Aah! I’ve said too much! Run!"[/Dale Gribble]
Dale frantically climbs the fence. As he disappears and his screams fade, a vehicle pulls into the alley. It is a green tricycle with toy siren.
[Bobby Hill] That boy ain’t right.[/BH]
Hank looks pleased. He hands Bobby a can of soda.
[Hank Hill]A’yep[/HH]

“that dang ol Cuffs and Collars man, the guy cleans the pool and the girls come by with the wakka chikka wak wakchikka wak man”

One thing I love about Hank is that no matter how confused he is by Bobby, he just tries soooo hard to understand and connect with him.

Peggy can get run over by a truck for all I care about her. What an unlikeable person.

I can’t believe nobody has mentioned the best scene EVER from that show:

[spoiler]The Amazing Jee-zus!

“And for my last trick, I’ll need a large wooden cross and a couple of nails”…ROLFMFAPSTC-literally[/spoiler]

The Fox website say’s Hank’s personal quote is…

“Nobody likes a knowitall who sits around talking about their genitalia.”

What episode is this from and what is the relevance?

There is one episode where Bobby substitutes candy for Luanne’s birth control pills as a practical joke. For revenge, Hank, Peggy & Luanne pretend she’s pregnant and arrange a shot-gun wedding for Bobby and herself.

Paraphrased:

Luanne tells Bobby that because she ate candy instead of the pill, she’s now pregnant.

Bobby’s reply: Take one now! Take two! Hurry!

Then later:

Khan: (looking over fence) Ming! Redneck next door marrying cousin! You owe 10 dollar!

Oh yes… the Manger Babies… in-freaking-spired! Jan Crouch is probably still mad that she didn’t think of it first.

My favorite exchange:

Back when Hank introduces Cotton to Kahn at a barbeque.

Hank: Hey, Dad. Come meet my neighbor Kahn. He’s Japanese.
[Cotton stalks up to Kahn and stares him up and down]
Cotton: No y’ain’t! Yer Loatian!

The look on Kahn’s face is priceless.

The look on Kahn’s face actually confused me.

I would have thought he’d be relieved that someone would say he was Laosian instead of Japanese. Kahn looked just as ticked off that someone would get his nationality right as he’d previously been by people getting his nationality wrong.

It all made sense later, though, as it became obvious that Kahn just considered himself to be in a big one-upsmanship contest against everybody else in the world.

If I’m not mistaken, that quote is from the second episode of the series, “Square Peg,” in which Peggy becomes the sexual education teacher at Bobby’s school. I suppose you can guess the relevance of the quote from that description.

As for the Cotton and Kahn issue, I would have thought that the look on his face came from the fact that Cotton identified him as a Loatian just by looking at him. I doubt most Americans can look at an Asian person and tell what country they’re from by their appearance (unless, of course, their t-shirt reads “Reggae Hairstyle - Rock and Roll!” :)).

I liked the line from the episode where Bobby joined the wrestling team. Hank’s thrilled his son is participating in a sport but Peggy becomes upset when she volunteers to coach a girls team and finds out they get third rate equipment.

“Hank, have you ever thought what it would be like if Bobby was a girl?”
“Don’t you understand, Peggy, we don’t have to worry about that anymore.”

But my favorite episode is the one where Hank finds out he was actually born in New York City. One great line after another.

As a former resident of Channelview, TX (I currently live in Auckland, NZ), I am really fond of King of the Hill. It really gets Texas right. Incidentally, Mike Judge mentioned Channelview as a prototype for Arlen in the Houston Chronicle when the show began. Arlen is probably slightly less cancerous, though…

I LOOVE Khan Jr. I know, she’s like, 11, and FRIGGIN ANIMATED, but still, she’s cute!
