King of the Hill season 14

Yes I did, IIRC it was in the waning minutes of the final episode of the season. I was like, “Oh, they finally referenced him kicking people in the balls.” But I was/am still disappointed he didn’t shout about his purse.

I saw an interview with the showrunner, who said something about how Hank and Peggy spent ten years in Saudi Arabia, so they had quite an adjustment when they returned to the United States. But Bobby said he was 22 years old and I remember him being in high school in prior seasons. What’s up with that?

Are you sure? I only ever remember him being at Tom Landry Middle School. Even looking online the only thing I’m seeing is an episode where he pretended to be a high school kid.

Somebody screwed up the timeline.

– Bobby is 13 at the end of the original show, but 21 in the revival.
– GH is a baby at the end of the original show, but 16 in the revival.
– Hank and Peggy have spent 10 years in Saudi Arabia and are ready for retirement in the revival, even though they were in their early 40s at the end of the original show and should only be about 50 now.

There’s a few others, but those are the most noticeable ones.

I assume what happened was that the showrunners originally conceived the revival as taking place 15 years after the original show. But then for some reason they decided Bobby, Joseph, and Connie should only be 21.

That timeline ain’t right!

I read somewhere, and it may have just been a random reddit post, that their ages floated around a bit.

Regarding them retiring, I could see that as possible. I don’t think it would be that far fetched to offer a long term, overseas job to someone with the intention of allowing them to retire when they’re done.

Also, just for the show, I think it helped. We saw 13 seasons of Hank selling propane and propane accessories and Peggy substitute teaching, now we get to see them living their lives and Bobby running a business.

IF that’s the case, I think it’s a good idea. It gives them the ability to have some of the kids in college for the first season or two, then they can graduate. That seems like it would be helpful as it gives the writers more options to work with.

I agree that it makes sense for Bobby and the others to be college age. (Though I wonder if Hank and Peggy living in Saudi Arabia for most of Bobby’s teenage years means that he also lived and attended high school there.)

Best as I can tell, we really don’t have much information about Bobby during the interim. I’m guessing he moved with them and went to an American high school in Saudi Arabia then moved back home to open the restaurant in Dallas.

Also, I’m guessing Arlen is supposed to be an hour or so from Dallas. Close enough that the characters can go back and fourth but far enough that there’s some amount of planning involved.

I think assuming Bobby was with his parents through high school and assuming the restaurant is about an hour from Arlen helps me make sense of Bobby and Connie seemingly haven’t spoken this whole time. OTOH, did she mention that she still talks to Joseph? Did she already know Joseph and Bobby were roommates before he mentioned it? If she did, then I’d assume she was just avoiding him, but would Joseph been able to keep that to himself?

If you freeze-frame through the opening credits you see Bobby leaving with his parents.

(You also see Khan and Min walking past in a heated argument.)

That’s interesting. I don’t recall them fighting in the original series, right? Nice little Easter Egg there.
