King of the Hill11/11 (spoilers)

Adding spoiler space to foil preview. Below this be open spoilers. - Skip

HOLY CRAP!!! I didn’t think they’d actually do it but Cotton actually died!
Peggy’s speech was great. One thing bothered me, where were Didi and GH? Neither of them were even mentioned.

DAMMIT. The night I have to work and one of my most hated characters goes to the big eraser in the sky.

waits for reruns

Dang ol’ tribute, man. He’s off killing Tojo in cartoon heaven now.

Hahahaha I finally get the whole reason behind “spoiler space” now

Not mad 'atcha alphaboi, but I think having such a major plot point to a favored series pretty much out there for all to read, title be damned, is going to ruffle a few feathers.

I’m about to go watch my taped copy of the episode, myself. Will be back to comment if need-be.

I was also wondering about the absence of Didi and GH. Maybe that’s why Cotton suddenly dropped in, because he and Didi had a fight. Hopefully, they’ll explore this in an upcoming episode.

I loved Peggy’s comment to Hank: “I’m glad you’re finally coming to terms with Cotton’s death. I’ve been preparing myself for years.”

Several times, in fact.

I wonder if the show will wrap up with Didi, who’s something of a flake, abandoning GH to be raised by the Hills as the second child they want but can’t have due to Hank’s “narra urethra”.

“I want ya to promise me you’ll… cut off my head and send it to the Emperor of Japan…”

I didn’t even have to mouse over this thread to find out. It was spoiled in the goddamned Family Guy thread of all places!

I just watched it, though. Good episode, though I think I agree with Cotton that it should have been Peggy that bit it.

They did decide that they didn’t want another child after all at the end of the episode where Peggy was trying to get pregnant. Still, I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened.

I wonder if the writers were already finished with all of the KotH episodes for this season, or if we’re going to get screwed out of a series finale.

I hated Peggy for most of the episode… come to think of it I hate her most episodes but In the end she redeemed herself. I love her last words to Cotton. Best of all the old bastard didn’t do an about face in the last moments of his life. He stayed as mean and surley as ever.

“I’ve burnt all my bridges” Would be a sad line… he seemed proud of it.

Now he’s in the afterlife with his shins, and all the Tojo he killed.

All merrily fighting in Valhalla, pausing for mead, beer or saki, then going back to fighting again!

I KNEW I SHOULD HAVE SET MY VCR!

I wonder if they’ll at least make a reference to Hank’s Japanese half-brother Junchiro? I don’t think it would merit an episode, but at least Hank would notify him.

Series finale? Hell, it’s a wonder this show is even still on the air. FOX stopped promoting it, at all, about 7 years ago. I think it’s stayed on the air this long simply through scheduling inertia.

I did think it was great that Dale blew up the memorial shed. Very fitting tribute to Cotton.

:dubious: It seems to me King of the Hill gets at least as much promotion as the Simpsons and Family Guy do. It was actually scheduled for cancellation in 2005, during season 10, which consisted largely of left-over episodes from the previous season. It got a renewal due to fairly high ratings, which have continued long enough to carry it to its current season, #12.

Say what? King of the Hill got good ratings and got renewed in spite of the lax promotion from Fox. I don’t see how anyone could possibly say that they promote it as much as the Simpsons and Family Guy and still keep a straight face. Have you ever tuned into Fox during a football game on Sunday?

Here’s how the commercials for the Sunday evening shows go. This same basic format has been going on for years and I saw a couple of commercials just like this during the game last Sunday, on what was definitely one of the biggest must-watch episodes of KotH’s run:

“Tonight, on an all new Simpsons,”
(ten second outline of plot, followed by a quick scene from the episode)
“THEN, after an all new King of the Hill,”
(one second flash that may or may not be a scene from the newest King of the Hill, overlaid with several Fox graphics, so you really can’t see much of anything anyway)
“It’s a new Family Guy!”
(ten second outline of Family Guy plot, followed by a scene from the new episode)

Week in, week out, this is Fox’s idea of promoting King of the Hill. I’m curious as to what you’ve seen that’s more substantial than… well, simply acknowledging the show exists and leaving it at that.

I remember this season well. That’s the season FOX was shoving stupid shows like War at Home at us in the middle of my Sunday cartoons. Of course all that did was give me time to turn the TV off and read for half an hour until Family Guy was on. FOX was really trying hard to replace King of the Hill, with dreck. Of course they could have brought back Fururama, but why do something reliable when Andy Richter will work for peanuts. And I’m sorry Rob Cordrey, but that was shameful.

This has been my experience as well. I don’t watch Fox other than on Sundays, maybe they pimp KotH more on weekdays? I’m guessing not.

Finally saw it a half-hour ago (God bless DSL!)- freakin’ awesome!
