Kingdom of Loathing--Friends of Cecil

Since activity in the clan is slumping, I wanted to make sure that dopers new to KOL knew that we have a SDMB clan-- the Friends of Cecil. Come on and join up.

And, for those of you who have both no idea what capybara is talking about and a whooole lotta free time, check out KoL.

I stopped playing after my first ascension, but it was a lot of fun making it there.

They’ve added craploads of content, Hal, so give it another swing when you have some extra time.
(and it’s really just 10 minutes or so a day, alas)

Okay, I’m now Doctor Rieux, a level 2 rhythm rogue. How do I join the clan?

Made it to level 3 and applied to the clan.

Damn…I was going to take you up on that, but it looks like they’ve cleared out the dead wood. My login isn’t working, and they don’t recognize any of my e-mail addresses. Now I have to figure out if I want to start from scratch again…

(And I stand corrected about the amount of time it takes – I forgot about the per-day turn limit)

What equipment do you guys have?

Also, just so y’all know, there’s going to be a major addition to the game, called NS13, around June 16-23.

Ok, I went and joined, and have played a bit. I have a few questions. Please be kind. My Quest Log says I have things to do, but when I try to do them I get “you are out of adventures”. Are you only allowed so many a day? How do you tell if you are close to moving up a level? I want to join Clan of Cecil, but I’m only Level 2. I also need to buy an aquarium but can’t get into the Flea Market yet and haven’t seen one anywhere else.

I appreciate any help anyone wants to offer to a noob.

You get 40 adventures per day as a baseline (80 the first day). They reset every night (this is referred to as “rollover”) You can get more adventures from eating food and/or drinking booze. There are also a few items that allow you to start with more adventures if you have them equipped at rollover. Adventures are cumulative up to a total of 200 (if you have more than 200 adventures at rollover, it resets you to 200). Food and booze are in your inventory - in the consumables area, labelled appropriately. Be forewarned - if you drink too much booze, you’ll be too drunk for productive adventuring until after rollover

You can click on the “character” linkie at the top of the screen and it’ll give you a rundown of your character’s current state of the art - level, how far to next level, little bar graphs of how much substat till the next point, skills you have, etc.

When you get to level 3, you can head to the Clan District in Town and search for the clan by name, then hit the “apply” linkie.

To get a Terrarium for you familiars (yay familiars!) you need to visit the Market Demon in the Market in the Seaside Town.

I’m Aangelica. Not in the Cecil clan - but around  Feel free to send me a messages if you have questions.

Thanks!

I’m risking the reprisal of several cans of angry asparagus here, but heck, I’m game!

All applicants have been admitted.
Welcome!
Nekosoft (aka Ghila)

Once you’re at 4th? 5th level, look us up.
Friends of Cecil!
Whoo!
New members!

I was about to go apply again, then I saw that I’ve been accepted. Hooray! Everybody loves Zoidberg! Err… Reckless_Marmot.

I’d love to join you guys, but I’d hate to leave the Cool Guy Crew, you know? They’ve been good to me. I’m kind of in a quandary. (Not that a clan is really SUPER-helpful if you’re mostly in hardcore anyway, but hey. Softcore is too boring once you get a bunch of stuff.)

PS - I’m Smartini, and I’m working on my 9th ascension. I think it’s my 5th in hardcore.

Well, damn it. I can’t resist, I’ve applied.

I work with invite only

This looks fun! I’ve applied to the clan, as well. I forgot to make myself a female disco bandit, though. Oh well.

Every time you ascend you get to do a whole nother character, so you’re never stuck TOO long as one thing.

Except that ascension I did as an Accordion Thief, that took forever. I hated that class.
